I mean, sure, it’s a four-star property, but honestly – it punches above its weight in ways that matter when you’re actually staying there.

The location is what really sells it for me. Kamala is sort of the sweet spot on Phuket that a lot of people overlook because they’re rushing off to Patong or Kata, but that’s exactly why it works. You’re close enough to everything – maybe fifteen minutes to the craziness of Bangla Road if that’s your thing – but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night without someone’s karaoke session bleeding through your windows. The beach itself is this gorgeous crescent of sand that doesn’t get completely mobbed, even during high season. I actually spent most mornings there with just the locals doing their morning exercises and a handful of other travelers who’d figured out this little secret.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the area – not just the tourist traps, but the good local spots. The front desk guy (I think his name was Niran?) pointed me toward this incredible seafood place tucked away on a side street that I never would have found otherwise. And the housekeeping was consistently solid throughout my stay, which honestly can be hit or miss at a lot of places in Thailand. The rooms themselves are well-maintained without being fancy – good air conditioning (crucial), comfortable beds, and bathrooms that actually have decent water pressure. Sometimes it’s the simple things, you know? The pool area gets busy in the afternoons but mornings are perfect, and there’s this spot by the far edge where you can catch some shade and actually read a book without someone’s Bluetooth speaker drowning out your thoughts. Parking was never an issue, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed around Phuket. Check-in was smooth, and they were flexible about late checkout when my flight got moved around – those little gestures make a difference when you’re dealing with travel stress. If I had one small complaint, it’d be that the Wi-Fi can get a bit spotty during peak hours, but honestly, maybe that’s not such a bad thing when you’re supposed to be on vacation anyway.

  We had a 2 bed apartment which was very large and comfortable and had direct swim up access for the pool. The Palms are located directly behind Ana’s Restaurant which is a fantastic location on the Main Street but still quiet. The food in Ana’s is very good we had breakfast and dinner in there and couldn’t fault it.
