Here’s the thing about this part of Phuket – Karon Beach itself is gorgeous but can get absolutely packed during high season, especially the northern end where all the big resorts dump their guests. But staying at Sunset Residence puts you closer to the southern stretch where it’s way more chill, and you can actually walk to some decent local spots without fighting through tourist crowds. The staff seems to genuinely know the area too, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about getting to the Big Buddha (which you should totally do, by the way), they didn’t just hand me a brochure – they actually explained the best time to go and which route to take. Small thing, but it matters. The whole experience just feels more authentic somehow, like you’re staying somewhere that cares about getting it right rather than just processing as many bookings as possible.
