Novotel Phuket Kamala Beach Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Novotel Phuket Kamala Beach, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Kamala isn’t exactly the most famous beach on the island, but you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. This four-star property sits right where the action meets tranquility, and after spending a few days here, I get why people keep coming back.
The location is really what sold me on this place. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Kamala Beach – not the touristy, crowded mess that Patong can be, but this lovely stretch of sand where you can actually hear yourself think. The hotel faces the beach, so if you snag a sea-view room (which I’d recommend), you wake up to these gorgeous sunrises over the Andaman Sea. I mean, the sunrise thing sounds cliché, but when you’re sipping coffee on your balcony watching local fishermen head out for the day, it hits different. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from Novotel – clean, modern, nothing too fancy but everything works. The beds are actually comfortable (always a gamble in Phuket), and the air conditioning is strong enough to handle those humid afternoons when you just need to crash for a bit.
What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the area inside and out. The concierge pointed me toward this little local restaurant about five minutes up the hill – Baan Kamala – where I had some of the best massaman curry of my trip. You won’t find that recommendation in most guidebooks. The hotel’s pool area is decent sized and never felt overcrowded, even when I visited during high season in February. There’s this infinity pool that looks out toward the ocean, and honestly, it’s pretty Instagram-worthy if that’s your thing. The breakfast buffet is solid – good mix of Western and Thai options, though the coffee could be stronger (but that’s true everywhere in Thailand unless you specifically hunt down the good stuff). One thing worth noting: Kamala can get a bit quiet at night compared to other parts of Phuket, which I loved, but if you’re looking for crazy nightlife, you’ll need to hop in a taxi to Patong. The hotel’s location makes it easy enough – about 15 minutes by car, and the front desk can arrange transport. Parking is free if you’re renting a scooter, which I’d definitely recommend for exploring the island. Overall, it’s one of those places that just works – not the fanciest hotel you’ll ever stay in, but it delivers on what matters: clean rooms, friendly service, and that perfect spot where you can enjoy both beach time and easy access to everything else Phuket has to offer.
Best hotels in Phuket range from luxurious beachfront resorts with private pool villas to boutique hotels in historic Phuket Town and elegant properties overlooking Patong Beach and Kata Beach.

So from France (7/10)
Amazing location at the end of Kamala beach. Relaxing, not too busy, perfect for swimming or walking along the beach. No shops directly nearby (let's say 30' walk), but a couple of good beach restaurants some minutes away. Comfortable beds, friendly staff, beautiful property, good internet. Pretty good breakfast, but not really worth that price imo.
