I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Allamanda Laguna Phuket by RESAVA, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name’s a bit of a mouthful, and you know how some of these newer resort brands can be hit or miss. But this four-star property actually surprised me in the best way possible.

The thing about Phuket is that it’s gotten so developed over the years, but this place manages to feel like it’s tucked away from all the chaos without being inconveniently remote. What really struck me was how they’ve designed the grounds around these lagoon-style pools – and I mean, they’re not just for show. I spent way too much time floating around in there, watching the tropical fish they’ve somehow managed to keep thriving in what’s essentially a massive aquarium you can swim in. The kids staying there were absolutely mesmerized, but honestly, so was I. You don’t see that kind of attention to detail everywhere, especially at this price point.

The rooms are what I’d call smart without being flashy. Mine had this huge sliding door that opened right onto the pool area – which was amazing until I realized at 6 AM that sound travels really well across water. If you’re a light sleeper, maybe request something facing the garden instead. The bathroom setup is pretty clever though, with this outdoor shower situation that somehow doesn’t feel weird or exposed. I mean, it took me a day to work up the courage to use it, but once I did, regular indoor showers felt boring. The air conditioning is solid too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with Phuket humidity.

Staff-wise, they seem to genuinely care about getting things right. I had this issue with my room key card dying every single day – apparently the magnetic strips don’t love the humidity either – but the front desk just started giving me two cards without me having to ask. Small thing, but it showed they were paying attention. The breakfast spread is decent, nothing groundbreaking, but they do this fresh fruit station that’s actually fresh, not the sad pre-cut stuff you get some places.

Location-wise, you’re close enough to the action if you want it, but far enough that you’re not hearing scooters revving up all night. There’s a decent local restaurant about a five-minute walk away – just head toward the main road and look for the place with all the fairy lights. The hotel shuttle to the beach runs pretty regularly, though I’d check the schedule because it’s not every thirty minutes like they initially told me.

Look, this isn’t going to be the most luxurious place you’ll ever stay, but it’s got character and the kind of thoughtful touches that make a trip memorable rather than just Instagram-worthy. The lagoon pools alone make it worth considering, especially if you’re traveling with kids or just want something a little different from the standard resort experience.
