Xinlor House – Phuket Old Town Overview
You know what really caught me off guard about Xinlor House – Phuket Old Town? It’s tucked away in this maze of heritage shophouses where you’d never expect to find such a thoughtfully restored place. I mean, walking through the narrow streets of Phuket Old Town can feel overwhelming with all the colorful Sino-Portuguese buildings and tourist crowds, but somehow this three-star gem manages to feel like a quiet refuge without being totally disconnected from the action.
The building itself has that authentic old-world charm – you can actually feel the history in the thick walls and high ceilings, which honestly work better than any air conditioning during those sticky afternoon hours. What I really appreciated was how they’ve kept the original architectural details but updated everything that actually matters for comfort. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Old Town, after all), but they’re cleverly designed with these beautiful wooden shutters that let you control exactly how much of the street life you want filtering in. And speaking of street life – you’re literally a two-minute walk from Thalang Road where all the weekend night market chaos happens, but somehow the sound doesn’t really carry into the rooms. I slept surprisingly well, even on Saturday night when things get pretty lively outside.
Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place – the staff actually knows the neighborhood. Not just the obvious tourist spots, but like, where to get the best coffee at 6 AM (there’s this tiny place around the corner that opens early for the locals), or which temple has the most interesting evening chanting if you’re into that sort of thing. They’ve got this relaxed, unhurried vibe that matches the pace of Old Town perfectly. Parking can be tricky in this area – I mean, these streets weren’t exactly designed for cars – but they’ll sort you out with a spot nearby, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need your car much anyway. Everything worth seeing is walkable, and the local songthaews (those shared pickup trucks) can get you to the beaches in about twenty minutes when you need a break from the heritage tour routine. It’s one of those places where the high rating makes total sense once you spend a night or two – not flashy or trying too hard, just genuinely comfortable and perfectly positioned for exploring one of Thailand’s most characterful neighborhoods.

Very Querky Vibe. An engineer-meets-architect art style echoing through the building making it quite unique. Nice style building with open air atrium

It is comfortable, clean, modern and has everything you need for exploring Phuket Old Town or further afield. The decor in the reception area and downstairs cafe is cool. It’s an amazing location for exploring the old town. There are 2 fantastic restaurants opposite, including Royde which is a Michelin star restaurant. Recommend booking in advance, we sadly didn’t get to eat here as we hadn’t pre booked but it looks amazing and heard good things.
