You know what caught me off guard about Woraburi Phuket Resort & Spa – SHA Plus? It’s actually tucked away from all the chaos of Patong and Kata, which honestly was exactly what I needed after dealing with the crowds at those main beaches. This four-star place sits in Karon – not right on the beach strip, but maybe a ten-minute walk down to the sand, which means you get that resort feel without paying beachfront prices.

The spa here is where they really shine, I mean, the traditional Thai massage I got there was probably the best one of my entire trip to Phuket. The therapist actually took time to ask about problem areas instead of just going through the motions like at some of the tourist trap places. The pool area’s pretty solid too – it’s got this nice curved design that makes it feel bigger than it actually is, and there are enough loungers that I never had trouble finding a spot, even during high season in December. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays around the pool area – you’re not dealing with kids screaming or people blasting music from their phones.

The rooms are… well, they’re comfortable but nothing fancy. Mine had this weird quirk where the bathroom door wouldn’t close properly, but honestly, traveling solo it didn’t bother me much. The AC worked great (crucial in that humidity), and the bed was actually pretty firm, which I prefer. Staff here genuinely seem to care about helping out – when I was trying to figure out how to get to the Big Buddha without getting ripped off by taxi drivers, the front desk guy wrote down the songthaew route in Thai for me and even called ahead to make sure I understood the fare. That kind of local knowledge makes a difference. The breakfast spread is decent – not amazing, but they do a proper Thai rice porridge that hits the spot, and the fruit is always fresh. Location-wise, you’re close enough to walk into Karon town for dinner (there’s this little som tam place that locals go to), but far enough away that you’re not hearing motorbikes revving all night. It’s sort of the sweet spot if you want to experience Phuket without feeling like you’re stuck in a tourist bubble.

  The staff were excellent, welcoming and always very helpful. My room clean, air con cool, was spacious, with a lounge and coffee table which was great for a 30 day stay. Great amount of drawers and storage, so you can unpack everything. Breakfast was lovely, with plenty of options, but we need bacon!
