You know what, Villa Rico surprised me in the best possible way. I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up, I wasn’t expecting much from this three-star place. The exterior is pretty understated, almost modest really, but once you step inside there’s this warm, family-run feeling that immediately puts you at ease. The lobby has these gorgeous tile floors that remind you you’re somewhere with actual character, not some cookie-cutter chain hotel.

What really got me was how the staff genuinely seemed to care about making your stay work. I mean, the front desk guy (I think his name was Carlos) actually drew me a little map showing the best route to avoid the morning traffic when I mentioned I had an early meeting. That’s the kind of thing you just don’t get at bigger places. The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but everything works and the beds are surprisingly good. I slept better than I expected, honestly. The air conditioning was quiet too, which matters more than people think. There’s this little balcony in most rooms where you can actually sit with your morning coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up, which I found myself doing every day.

The thing about Villa Rico is that it sits in this perfect sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tourist crowds right outside your window. I walked to several great local restaurants that clearly don’t see many hotel guests – you know the type, where the menu isn’t translated and the food is incredible. The hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant, but there’s a café literally next door that makes these amazing pastries in the morning, and the smell drifts right into the lobby. Parking was easy too, which saved me a headache. Look, it’s not going to win any luxury awards, but for the price point and the genuine hospitality, I’d absolutely stay here again. Sometimes you just want a place that feels real, where people remember your name by day two and the whole experience doesn’t feel like you’re being processed through a hospitality machine.

  The Villa is really beautiful and overall everything was really great! Cool location, swimming pool was clean and all the rooms were also very clean! Bedsheets were wonderful and soft. The kitchen has all the utilities you need, they also provide a lot of water in the fridge!
  They add you to a group on WhatsApp if you need help and for general inquiries, which was good for effective communication!
