The Slate, Phuket Overview
You know what struck me most about The Slate, Phuket? It’s how they managed to create something that feels completely different from every other beach resort on the island. I mean, when you first pull up to this place in Nai Yang – honestly, the industrial-chic design might catch you off guard if you’re expecting typical Thai resort vibes. But trust me, it works brilliantly.
The whole property has this fascinating tin-mining heritage story woven throughout, which actually makes sense once you know that Phuket was built on tin mining back in the day. Walking around, you’ll notice these massive metal sculptures and weathered textures that somehow feel both edgy and elegant. The pool area is where this five-star property really shows off – there’s this incredible lagoon-style setup that snakes between the buildings, and the water’s this gorgeous turquoise that photographs ridiculously well. What I loved is that even when the resort was pretty full, it never felt crowded because of how the spaces flow together.
Here’s the thing though – location-wise, you’re right next to Nai Yang Beach, which is honestly one of the more underrated stretches of sand on the island. It’s where locals actually go, especially on weekends, and there’s something refreshing about that authentic vibe compared to the tourist circus at Patong. The airport’s close (you’ll hear planes occasionally, but it’s not constant), which makes transfers super easy. Room-wise, I stayed in one of their pool access suites and, well, being able to literally step from your terrace into the water is pretty fantastic. The interiors keep that industrial theme going but balance it with rich woods and Thai touches – it’s sophisticated without being stuffy. Staff here actually seem to enjoy their jobs, which sounds small but makes such a difference. They know the area well too, so when you ask about that little local seafood spot down the road or the best time to hit the weekend market in town, they’ve got real answers. The spa‘s worth mentioning – treatments happen in these gorgeous pavilions surrounded by water features, and honestly, it’s one of those places where you might accidentally spend half your day. With a 9.1 rating, you’d expect excellence, and The Slate delivers on that promise while still feeling like it has personality and soul.

Reviews of The Slate, Phuket

A fantastic retreat that combines industrial design with lush greenery for a unique atmosphere at the hotel. It's well-organized and clean, with a friendly atmosphere where the staff seem to be proud of their workplace. The breakfast was generous and one of the best we've had. The gym was stylish and well-maintained. We will gladly come back!

The garden, the silence, the discretion, the accommodation, the food, the pools, the sea proximity; last, bit not least, the service. The Slate exceeded our expectations and we just can wait to return …

Alexandra from Russia (10/10)
The Slate is awesome. It is situated only 10 minutes by car from Phuket airport. We travel with the small child (4 months) and our room was comfortably situated on first floor, so close to the main restaurant and swimming pool. The design of the hotel is magnificent. The territory is very green and shady. The public beach — long and clean — only 5 minutes away from the hotel. The breakfasts are to die for.

Atmosphere in the Slate was wonderful and there was clean everywhere. Special thank you to staff near pool. if you’d like to have dinner in local restaurant you can find the food you like: European cuisine or you can try to traditional Thai cuisine. Perfect!
