The Royal P Phuket – SHA Plus Overview
First Impressions
Walking into The Royal P Phuket – SHA Plus, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star property, but this place surprised me in the best way. The lobby has this clean, modern feel without trying too hard to be fancy — you know what I mean? It’s tucked away on Phattana Road in Phuket Town, which actually turned out to be perfect because you’re right in the heart of the real Phuket, not some touristy bubble.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about staying in Phuket Town — you get to see how locals actually live, and The Royal P is positioned perfectly for that. The old Sino-Portuguese buildings are just a short walk away, and honestly, wandering those colorful streets in the early morning before the heat kicks in is something special. Plus, there’s parking right at the hotel, which might not sound exciting but trust me, finding a spot in this area can be a nightmare otherwise. The weekend night market is close enough that you’ll smell the street food from your window.
The Room Experience
I’ll be straight with you — the room isn’t going to win any design awards, but it’s exactly what you need after a day exploring. The bed though? That’s where this place really shines. I mean, I’ve stayed in fancier hotels where I tossed and turned all night, but here I slept like a rock. The air conditioning works properly (crucial in Thailand), and the bathroom is spotless. It’s simple, but everything functions the way it should, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed.
Breakfast & Daily Rhythms
The breakfast spread surprised me — it’s a proper buffet with both Asian and Western options. The Thai dishes are actually good, not the watered-down tourist versions you sometimes get. I found myself going back for the congee and fresh fruit every morning. The restaurant area gets decent light in the morning, and you can plan your day while watching the street come alive outside. Service is friendly without being overly chatty, which I appreciated before my first coffee.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t a resort where you’ll spend all day by the pool, but that’s not really the point. Couples seem to really get what this place offers — it’s a solid base for exploring Phuket Town and the surrounding areas without breaking the bank. The staff genuinely wants to help, the beds are comfortable enough that you’ll actually rest, and you’re positioned to experience authentic Thai culture instead of just the beach scene. For the price point, it delivers exactly what it promises, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

We’ve only stayed one night, so next morning we could easily get tobthe pier tobtake the ferry (10-15 minutes by taxi)
It’s a simple but cosy accomodation,
With huge and comfortable bed
good wifi,
Nice view from the balcony,
Great shower (only negative point, there is no shower door, so water goes out to the toilet and sink, but there is a small step at the entrance which keeps the water within the bathroom),
Breakfast was also good, nothing outstanding but satisfying.
Shop is close to the entrance, just across the road.
Didn’t have enough time to try the swimming pool, so can’t say anything about that….Al from Australia (8/10)
