The Racha Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first heard about The Racha, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name didn’t immediately scream luxury resort to me, but wow, was I wrong about that assumption. This five-star property completely blew me away from the moment I walked through those doors.

What really struck me first was how they’ve managed to create this sense of intimate elegance without feeling stuffy or pretentious. You know how some luxury places make you feel like you need to whisper? Not here. The staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests – not that forced hospitality smile you get at chain hotels, but actual warmth. I remember our check-in took maybe ten minutes, and they had this lovely welcome drink that wasn’t overly sweet (thank goodness, because I’m so tired of those sugary cocktails most places serve). The lobby has this gorgeous natural light that changes throughout the day, and honestly, I found myself just sitting there with my coffee in the mornings watching how the space transformed.

The rooms are something else entirely. I mean, you expect quality at this level, but the attention to detail here actually surprised me. The bathroom alone – I’m talking about rainfall shower heads that work properly, towels that are fluffy without being those ridiculous oversized things you can’t wrap around yourself, and toiletries that don’t smell like generic hotel soap. The bed was firm enough that I didn’t wake up with a backache (which happens more often than I’d like to admit), and the blackout curtains actually blocked out light completely. Small thing, maybe, but when you’re trying to recover from jet lag, it matters. What I loved most was the balcony space – not huge, but perfectly sized for morning coffee or an evening drink, with views that change depending on the weather and time of day.

The pool area became my favorite spot pretty quickly. It’s never felt overcrowded, even during what seemed like peak times, and the water temperature was consistently perfect. They have these comfortable loungers that don’t leave weird marks on your back, and the poolside service was impressively quick without being intrusive. I actually ended up chatting with other guests there – you know how some places feel social and others don’t? This definitely falls into the former category. The restaurant surprised me too, honestly. Hotel dining can be hit or miss, but their breakfast spread had both international options and some local specialties that were genuinely delicious, not just there for show.

Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of highly-rated places that felt like they were coasting on their reputation, but The Racha feels like they’re actually trying to earn that 9.0 rating every single day. The housekeeping was impeccable, the concierge gave recommendations that were spot-on for my interests, and even small requests were handled quickly and cheerfully. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out – and trust me, that doesn’t happen often.

Khun Oh and Khun Ball at the Padi dive center are absolutely great! Fantastic with our teenagers, funny, great service and always willing to go the extra mile (night dives with boat at the wrecks). They took great photos, too. Go diving with them if you can!

  • Seham from United Arab Emirates (9/10)

The hotel location is gorgeous, not only the beach but the nature seeing butterflies first thing in the morning everywhere around you, birds sound and gorgeous rare trees & palm trees. the villa layout and having option to stay with your kids in the same villa was a plus for us, speed of service was excellent. the flexibility of the staff and their understanding was something we really admired showed great customer service as we booked for a week but we needed to checkout a day earlier as we booked an excursion and we weren't aware of the distance and they found a way to fulfil that! smoothly and without a need from us to further explain. Just be aware if you are arriving Phuket in the evening you need to book a hotel in the mainland to stay for that evening then the next day you can take the ferry to The Racha as no boats operating to the hotel after 4:00 pm 🙂

This resort is absolutely amazing with the clearest water I have seen in Thailand. The facilities are beautiful and the rooms well equipped. The staff are incredible and very willing to assist. The resort provides free ice and drinking water on the beach. Breakfast provided a great selection with good quality of food. Adults only pool and a separate kids pool. Beautiful spa and gym. The restaurants served great food at a reasonable price. The restaurant made my wife`s birthday very special. The resort lights up beautifully at night.

Absolutely amazing place! Could not fault it at all. The location is breath taking, the facilities are amazing, the staff went above and beyond for everything for us. We did most of the activities offered on the island and they were all great. Food for breakfast and all the restaurants was perfect. The rooms are very big and spacious and the outdoor shower is a nice touch. Would stay here for a lot longer next time to enjoy everything the island has to offer.

  • Duaa from Kuwait (9/10)

The location was beautiful. The water was crystal clear and the island had amazing views and landscapes. It felt like being in the maldives. The spa facility was exceptional and their masseuse Aye was splendid. The staff was very helpful and the resort kept up with its luxury status with small gestures and tokens every night. The property was very lavish and the rooms were spacious.
