Well, this four-star resort actually exceeded what I’d imagined. The entrance feels intimate rather than overwhelming, and there’s this immediate sense that you’ve found something special tucked away from the usual tourist chaos. The staff greeted me like I was a returning friend, which set the tone for everything that followed.

Location & Setting

Here’s what I love about Panwa Beach — it’s far enough from Patong’s madness but close enough that you can still get there if you want the nightlife scene. The resort sits right on this gorgeous stretch of sand that never feels crowded, even during peak season. I mean, couples clearly get it because they rate this location incredibly high, and I can see why. You’ve got free parking right on site (which is actually a big deal in Thailand), plus they’ve got fishing, canoeing, and diving activities if you’re into that sort of thing. The water here is cleaner than what you’ll find at the more popular beaches, honestly.

The Accommodations

My room had this perfect balance — comfortable without being overly fancy, clean without feeling sterile. The air conditioning works properly (trust me, this matters more than you think), and the bed was actually comfortable, not just hotel-acceptable. What really got me was the view from my balcony — you wake up to this panoramic ocean scene that changes throughout the day. The bathroom was well-designed too, with good water pressure and hot water that stays hot.

Dining & Amenities

The on-site restaurant serves solid Thai food alongside international options, though I’d recommend venturing out for dinner at least once — there are some fantastic local spots within walking distance. Breakfast was fresh and varied enough that I didn’t get bored over my five-day stay. The pool area is where I spent most afternoons, and it’s got this relaxed vibe where you can actually read a book without constant noise. They keep the grounds immaculate, and the Wi-Fi works well throughout the property.

Look, The Mooring Resort isn’t trying to be the flashiest place on the island, and that’s exactly why it works so well. It’s got that 9.3 rating because they focus on doing the basics exceptionally well — clean rooms, friendly service, great location, and reasonable prices. You’re getting genuine value here, especially if you want to experience the real Phuket without the tourist trap feeling.   The Resort is direct next to the beach ,we loved it especially if you are with a toddler.We stayes 15 days in karon before ,this was way better for us .You can leave you toddler run around without any traffic and the restaurant next door was great too they have a really good menu with a lot of choices also for children.We stayed 6 night and spend all our days in the resort .The beach is also perfect for small children no waves .Staff was very helpful and the room is spacious and nice .We loved it!!

  A stunning little resort. The location is absolutely beautiful, with views over Ao Yon. All villas are within 20 metres of the beach with a swimming pool central to the resort. The beach is so quiet it almost feels private. The staff are so helpful and friendly, they booked taxis for us, arranged for a boat trip from the beach, and did the most they could to make us feel welcome. The resort doesn’t have a restaurant as part of it but right next door is The Cove which serves a variety of western and Thai dishes as well as alcoholic drinks.

  Our stay at this beautiful hotel was pure bliss from start to finish. Nestled right on the beach, it offered the perfect combination of serene surroundings and breathtaking beauty. The lush greenery everywhere was so refreshing, and you could feel the tranquility in every corner of the resort.
  
  One of our favorite things was the incredible array of sun beds and hammocks scattered along the beach and shaded under trees. Each one was designed for ultimate relaxation, making it easy to lose track of time while simply soaking in the peace. The staff made sure everything was perfect, keeping the grounds immaculate and attending to every detail with such warmth and care.
  
  We loved our room, too! It was filled with thoughtful touches like daily-refilled water bottles (sustainability win!), cozy bathrobes, a handy beach bag, and even little hedgehogs to brush off sand after a day on the beach. Plus, the fresh coffee provided in-room was fantastic—no instant here!
  
  This hotel is a true paradise, where everything just aligns to create an unforgettable experience. We left feeling recharged, relaxed, and already dreaming of our next visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a heavenly escape by the sea!
