I’ll be honest – I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to The Loft Panwa Resort, but this four-star property completely caught me off guard in the best way possible. Tucked away on the quieter southern tip of Phuket, it’s got this modern industrial vibe going on that somehow works perfectly against the tropical backdrop. The lobby hits you with these soaring concrete ceilings and exposed beams, but then you walk through to the pool area and – wow – the view over Chalong Bay just opens up in front of you.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to create this adult playground feel without being pretentious about it. The rooms have this loft-style thing going on (hence the name, obviously), with polished concrete floors that actually stay cool in the heat and these huge sliding doors that open onto private terraces. You know what I loved? The rainfall showers are massive, and the water pressure is actually decent – something you can’t always count on in Thailand. The beds are firm but comfortable, though if you’re someone who likes it super soft, you might want to ask for extra pillows. My room faced the water, and I spent way too much time just watching the longtail boats put-put across the bay in the mornings.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to escape the Patong madness but still have access to everything. You’re maybe fifteen minutes from the Big Buddha, and the drive through the hills is gorgeous – all winding roads and glimpses of the coastline. The resort’s beach isn’t huge, but it’s clean and rarely crowded since most tourists stick to the busier spots up north. I actually preferred the pool anyway – it’s this gorgeous infinity setup where you can float around with a drink and pretend you’re melting into the sea. The staff here really knows their stuff too, particularly this guy Somchai at the front desk who gave me the best local restaurant recommendations I got during my entire trip. There’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t try to keep you trapped on property – they genuinely want you to explore Phuket and experience the real deal. Sure, it’s not luxury level, but for what you pay, the quality is solid and the vibe is just right. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels both contemporary and authentically Thai, without the cookie-cutter resort experience, this place delivers.
