What really sold me on this place was how they’ve managed to create a genuine retreat feel right in the heart of Patong. I mean, you’re literally minutes from Bangla Road if that’s your scene, but the resort itself feels worlds away from all that chaos. The pool area is where I spent most of my mornings – there’s something about the way the light filters through the trees that just works, you know? And the staff… well, they actually remember your name after day two, which sounds small but makes such a difference. The rooms are solid four-star quality without any of the over-the-top touches that sometimes feel forced at other resorts. Clean lines, comfortable beds, and those little details like proper water pressure and blackout curtains that actually block out light.

Here’s what I really appreciated though – the location lets you have it both ways. You can walk to the beach in about five minutes (and it’s the good part of Patong Beach, not the super crowded section), but you can also easily grab a tuk-tuk to explore other parts of the island. I did day trips to Kata and even made it up to the Big Buddha without feeling like I was stuck in tourist central every night. The resort restaurant is honestly better than it needs to be – I ended up eating there more than I planned because the Thai dishes were actually authentic, not the watered-down versions you sometimes get at hotel restaurants. Pro tip: try their green curry on a rainy afternoon by the pool. The whole vibe just works, especially if you’re looking for that sweet spot between relaxation and having access to Patong’s energy when you want it. It’s not the cheapest option in the area, but for what you get – and more importantly, for how it makes you feel – it’s worth every baht.

  The Lantern had a big room for the pool access suite. Very comfortable bed and very close to restaurants and street food.
  They have a late check out fee, which we used and arrived at the airport fresh for a long flight.
