I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to The Gig Hotel, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from the name. But you know what? Sometimes the places with quirky names end up being the most memorable, and this four-star spot definitely falls into that category.

The thing that struck me right away was how the staff actually seemed to care about getting the details right. Check-in was smooth (no endless forms or upselling attempts), and they had this way of making suggestions that felt genuine rather than scripted. The lobby has this interesting mix of modern touches with some vintage musical equipment scattered around – I mean, given the name, it makes sense, but it’s done tastefully rather than feeling like a theme restaurant. The rooms themselves are well thought out, honestly. Good lighting for actually reading, outlets where you need them, and – this might sound small but it matters – the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine. I’ve stayed in plenty of places where you’re choosing between being comfortable or getting any sleep.

What really won me over was the attention to sound quality throughout the building. Whether it’s intentional given the music theme or just good construction, the walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway or TV from next door. The beds are solid too – firm enough to be supportive but not like sleeping on a rock. Breakfast service runs until a reasonable hour (not one of those places that shuts down at 9 AM sharp), and the coffee is actually decent, which honestly puts it ahead of a lot of places in this price range. The neighborhood itself has character – you can walk to several local spots that aren’t tourist traps, and there’s street parking if you’re driving, though it can get tight on weekends. One small thing that bugged me was the elevator can be sluggish during busy times, but that’s pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. Overall, with an 8.1 rating, this place delivers on being a solid choice without trying too hard to impress. It’s the kind of spot where everything just works the way it should, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re traveling.

  The room was clean and comfy, but housekeeping only refolded used towels instead of replacing them daily. There were no dental kits or conditioner in the shower. We were told an extra fee was required for a room with a view. I would rate it 8/10.
