There’s usually a good mix of business travelers and tourists hanging around the common areas, and I actually ended up having some great conversations with fellow guests over coffee.

The rooms are clean and thoughtfully laid out, with proper reading lights (thank god), decent water pressure, and air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a jet engine. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay smooth, and they’re quick with recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. I remember asking about where to grab a good local breakfast, and instead of pointing me toward some generic hotel restaurant, they sent me to this little place around the corner that became my daily ritual. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building, which is honestly more than I can say for some four-star places I’ve stayed at.

Here’s the thing about The Expat Hotel – it’s not trying to be something it’s not. It’s comfortable, reliable, and has this unpretentious charm that makes it perfect for travelers who want a good night’s sleep and a friendly base without all the fuss. The common areas stay lively until a reasonable hour, but the rooms are quiet enough that you won’t be kept up by hallway chatter or street noise. Check-in was smooth, parking wasn’t a nightmare, and honestly, for the price point, you’re getting solid value. I mean, sure, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or a rooftop pool, but you are getting a place that feels genuine and welcoming – which, after a long day of travel or meetings, is exactly what you want. It’s the kind of hotel that makes you think “yeah, I’d definitely stay here again” rather than just checking it off your list.

  Well situated from Bangla Road. Comfortable room without any frills. Basic bathroom.
  Nice and clean swimming pool.
  The receptionist was easy to get along with. Organised taxis and Tuk tuk. There is no lift and she was willing to carry a heavy suitcase up 3 flights of stairs.
  She stored a parcel for us whilst away on a 10 day trip.
  The breakfast is standard, but ample.
  They serve good quality coffee with breakfast!!!

  Lovely pool area. The sports bar there is amazing! All staff are super friendly & helpful especially Martyn in the sports bar. We will be back!
