I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to The Charm Resort Phuket – SHA Certified, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The name sounds a bit corporate with that SHA certification thrown in there, but you know what? Sometimes these places surprise you, and this one absolutely did.

What struck me right away was how they’ve managed to create this bubble of calm that feels authentically Thai without being over the top about it. The lobby has this open-air design that actually works – I mean, you’re not getting blasted by AC the second you walk in, but you’re also not sweating through your shirt. The staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests, which honestly isn’t always a given at four-star properties. I watched them handle a family with three screaming kids and an elderly grandmother who needed wheelchair assistance, and they just… took care of everyone without that fake smile thing you see sometimes.

The rooms are where this place really won me over though. Mine overlooked the pool area, and while it got a bit lively during the day (families, you know), it actually quieted down nicely in the evenings. The bed was properly firm – none of that sinking-into-quicksand feeling you sometimes get at resort hotels. What I really appreciated were the little touches that show someone’s actually thinking about what travelers need: enough outlets near the bed, a proper desk if you need to get some work done, and – this might sound weird – but the shower pressure was fantastic. After a day of exploring Phuket in that heat and humidity, you really want a shower that can actually rinse the sunscreen off.

Speaking of exploring, the location works well if you want options. You’re not stuck on some isolated beach where the only food comes from the hotel restaurant (though their pad thai is actually pretty solid – I had it twice). There are local spots within walking distance where you can grab a proper Thai meal for a fraction of what you’d pay at the resort, and the night market isn’t far if you’re into that scene. The hotel runs a shuttle to the main beach areas too, which saves you from dealing with tuk-tuk negotiations when you’re already tired from the sun.

I stayed during shoulder season in October, so it wasn’t completely packed, but I could tell this place handles crowds well. The pool area is big enough that it doesn’t feel like a sardine can, and they’ve got these little nooks and covered areas where you can actually escape if the main pool gets too chaotic. The breakfast spread was better than I expected too – yes, there’s the usual international stuff, but they also had some legitimate local dishes that weren’t watered down for tourist palates.

Look, is this the most luxurious place you’ll ever stay? No. But it’s the kind of solid, well-run hotel where you can relax without constantly worrying about whether you’re getting ripped off or dealing with incompetent service. For what you pay, especially considering that 8.2 rating reflects real guest experiences, it delivers exactly what it promises – and sometimes that’s exactly what you need for a good vacation.

  We stayed here last year and enjoyed our time so thought we would book it again.
  
  The Room: We got the Junior Suite as last year and it really was worth the extra money. The bedroom and bathroom were large in their own right but then a massive room added with sofa and huge TV, a dining table and a kitchen area. Very relaxing and can highly recommend.
  
  The Pool: Everyone who came up to the rooftop infinity pool were amazed at the view over Patong bay. The sun beds had been replaced from last year and were a great addition. I expect the umbrellas will be the next to change as almost all of them had broken spokes.

  The room was spacious, with a 2-floor top floor with a partial sea view. It featured a hot tub on the balcony, and although it was used only once, it's a nice add-on. The breakfast menu selection and variety were excellent, with plenty of food, from standard breakfast items to Indian and Thai meal choices. The staff is courteous and helpful, available to cater to every need. Cleaning and restocking items like coffee and water were offered daily, which was good because you didn't need to buy water outside. The resort is situated in the north of Patong Beach, a quieter area outside the busy nightlife and daily hustle, with plenty of dining options in the surrounding hotels and vendors. It was close enough to the busy party area to get there on foot.

  Breakfast and dinner have a huge variety of foods which caterer for various nationalities. Rooms were spacious, loved the swim up bar, very friendly and accommodating staff, great location.

  The Charm resort met our expectations. It was close to the beach and within walking distance of the main parts of Patong. The rooms were spacious and any issues were quickly resolved. Having access to a pool that was only shared between 6 units was a bonus. The reception was very accomodating and helpful after our check out and wait for a transfer to the airport in the early evening providing us towels for he pool and access to showers, etc.

  Stuff super nice , very clean and great location literally 2 minutes from the beach.
