I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa Phuket, I wasn’t expecting much. The entrance is sort of understated, and after seeing so many flashy resort lobbies around Phuket, this place felt refreshingly low-key. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it special.

This five-star property sprawls along Naithon Beach in a way that actually makes sense – none of those towering concrete blocks you see everywhere else on the island. Instead, they’ve gone for this village concept with low-rise buildings tucked between coconut palms and frangipani trees. The beach here is honestly one of Phuket’s better-kept secrets. While everyone’s fighting for space at Patong or Kata, Naithon stays relatively quiet, especially during weekdays. I mean, you’ll still get some families and couples, but it never feels like you’re at a crowded public pool, if you know what I mean.

The rooms themselves have this sort of rustic-chic vibe – think polished concrete floors, dark wood furniture, and these massive bathrooms with rain showers that actually have decent water pressure (trust me, that’s not a given in Thailand). What I really appreciated was how they handled the air conditioning; it’s whisper quiet, which is crucial when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag or recover from one too many Chang beers. The spa is where this place really shines though – they’ve got therapists who actually know what they’re doing, not just going through the motions. I had this traditional Thai massage that left me feeling like I’d been completely rebuilt. The treatment rooms overlook the gardens, and you can hear the waves in the background, which sounds cheesy but actually works.

Food-wise, the beachfront restaurant serves up solid Thai dishes alongside Western comfort food – their green curry hits the right spice level without destroying your taste buds, and they do a surprisingly decent burger if you’re craving something familiar. The breakfast spread is extensive without being overwhelming, and they make fresh mango smoothies that taste like actual fruit, not sugar water. One thing to note: the pool area can get a bit crowded during high season (November through March), but there’s always the beach, which stays pretty mellow. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work – they’re not overly pushy about excursions or spa treatments, but they’ll sort you out with honest recommendations if you ask. Parking is free and easy, which matters if you’re planning to rent a car and explore the island’s quieter corners. All in all, it’s the kind of place that gets the balance right between comfort and authenticity – you feel like you’re actually in Thailand, not some generic tropical resort that could be anywhere.

  Great resort, the tropical garden was gorgeous with a large meandering pool that was clean. Everything in the restaurant was very tasty, the breakfast was varied and the service was great. The resort has a very excellent SPA. The staff are very pleasant and helpful (especially in reception) We really liked the morning yoga class, excellent instructor Sonja (we went every morning) The creator of the resort has loved nature and animals (in the morning the guests were delighted by the small zoo, which was very cute) The Tropical Garden Rooms and Beach Houses are very comfortable when using all the facilities in the resort. Would definitely go back.

  Everything you could want and need on the property! Lots of options for breakfast, and a variety for lunch and dinner too.
  Pool was fabulous, with a pretty beach in the doorstep too. Perfect for us with a young baby.

  The hotel was very pretty, lovely facilities. The gardens were stunning, so many beautiful plants and interesting Thai sculptures to look at. The children loved the petting zoo. The spa is absolutely beautiful I had an amazing treatment from Ying. She was wonderful.

  Breakfast was great. The location was excellent. The Villas are on the beach, that is why it’s so expensive for rooms so basic, the staff very nice but hardly are in know of English language. Chefs / food was very good.
