Super Som Rawai Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Super Som Rawai? I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place, honestly – but this little gem completely changed my perspective on what good hospitality actually looks like. Located right in the heart of Rawai, it’s one of those spots where you realize the star rating system doesn’t always tell the whole story.
The first thing that hits you is how genuinely welcoming the staff are – and I mean that in the most authentic way possible. None of that rehearsed hotel script nonsense you get at bigger chains. The owner (I think his name was Som, which makes total sense now) actually remembered my coffee preference by day three, which honestly made my mornings so much better. The rooms aren’t fancy by any stretch, but they’re spotless and surprisingly thoughtful. I mean, whoever designed the bathroom actually considered that people need somewhere to hang wet swimwear – such a small thing, but you notice it when you’re dealing with Rawai’s humidity. The air conditioning works like a dream too, which… well, if you’ve been to southern Thailand in April, you’ll understand why that’s not negotiable.
What really sets this place apart though is its location and the local knowledge you get just by staying there. You’re walking distance from Rawai Beach (maybe five minutes if you’re strolling), but more importantly, you’re close to all those little seafood spots that tourists usually miss entirely. The staff pointed me toward this tiny place behind the 7-Eleven that serves the most incredible tom yum – I never would’ve found it otherwise. Plus, getting to the pier for island hopping trips is ridiculously easy from here, and Som’s team actually helped me negotiate better boat prices, which saved me a decent chunk of money over the week. The whole area gets pretty lively in the evenings (it’s Rawai, after all), but the hotel itself stays surprisingly quiet – something about how it’s positioned just off the main road. I was worried about noise, but I slept perfectly fine every night. Honestly, for a 9.4 rating, I was skeptical at first, but after staying there… yeah, I totally get it now. It’s not about marble lobbies or infinity pools – it’s about those moments when everything just works seamlessly and you feel like you’re staying with people who actually care about making your trip memorable.
Phuket hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations on this tropical island, known for its vibrant nightlife, world-class diving spots, and legendary Thai cuisine.

Very comfortable stay. Hosts (Andy & Som) were brilliant. Made sure we had everything we needed & went the extra mile by showing us the local sights & advised us best places to visit while there.

Som & Andy were two of the nicest hosts I’ve ever met. Went out of their way to make sure I could do all the things I wanted and made everything pleasurable. Really lovely couple! The food they served was beautiful and great value. The most amazing part about it has to be the comfort.. in 6 months of south east Asia travelling I’ve never had a mattress like it.. and the pillows! Wow.

The cleanliness of both the restaurant and accommodation is apparent from the moment you step into Super Som.
The hosts Andy & Som are very welcoming, friendly & helpful, really great hospitality experienced.
The food in their restaurant is delicious and great value for money. The menu is extensive offering both Thai & English dishes.
We really enjoyed a full English Breakfast too, the first in 7 weeks!
In our opinion Super Som represents really good value for money, which we would have no hesitation in returning to if we come back to Phuket.
Next time we will book a table to enjoy a traditional roast dinner on Sunday.
Rawai is a great base to explore the beautiful beaches of Southern Phuket.Michael from United Kingdom (10/10)

Stayed here for 3 nights for my freediving trip. Small family run business with friendly owner. Definitely recommended for solo travellers. The location is convenient, about 15 mins' bike ride from Chalong Pier.
