Sunprime Kamala Beach Overview
You know what struck me first about Sunprime Kamala Beach? It’s got this refreshingly grown-up vibe that’s honestly pretty rare in Phuket these days. This four-star spot sits right on Kamala Beach – and I mean literally right there, where you can actually hear the waves from most rooms without any of that muffled hotel-wall nonsense you usually get.
The thing about Kamala is that it’s sort of the sweet spot between Patong’s chaos and some of the sleepier northern beaches. During the day, you’ve got this gorgeous stretch of sand that doesn’t feel like a sardine can, and the hotel takes full advantage of that. The pool area flows naturally toward the beach – no awkward concrete barriers or anything – so you can literally swim, then walk straight onto the sand without shoes (though honestly, the sand gets pretty hot by midday, so maybe grab those flip-flops). What I really appreciated was how they’ve designed the common areas. The lobby opens right up to catch those afternoon breezes, and there are these little nooks where you can actually sit and read without feeling like you’re on display.
I’ll be straight with you – the rooms aren’t going to blow your mind with cutting-edge design, but they’re thoughtfully done. Mine faced the ocean, and waking up to that view never got old, even after a week. The AC works properly (crucial in that humidity), and the bathroom actually has decent water pressure, which honestly shouldn’t be noteworthy but somehow is in a lot of Thai beach hotels. The minibar situation is reasonable too – they’re not charging Bangkok hotel prices for a bottle of water. One small thing that impressed me: housekeeping pays attention to details. My beach towels were always replaced without me having to hunt anyone down, and they’d reset the room in this way that felt welcoming rather than just efficient. Evening time is when this place really shines, actually. Kamala gets this golden hour light that’s pretty spectacular, and the hotel’s beachfront bar knows it. You can grab a drink and just… sit. No pressure to order dinner, no loud music drowning out conversation. It’s the kind of spot where you end up staying longer than you planned because leaving feels like effort. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working there, which makes a bigger difference than you’d think – they’ll point you toward the good local spots up the hill, not just the touristy places that probably give them commissions.

This is a big resort hotel. For someone who’s never set foot into a resort hotel before, the sheer size and the amount of people on sunbeds around the pools were a bit of a shock. It’s quite a long way from the reception to the hotel’s beach exit.
That said: My mom and I spent two nights in the hotel after traveling through Thailand. The idea was to end our trip with some relaxation under palm trees.
The hotel has got two restaurants, one of them offering beautiful sea views. The people are very nice and there are Western and Thai dishes on the menu. Upon leaving the hotel, you’re right at the beach. It’s a beautiful beach with white sand and a lot of palm trees, but it’s very crowded. The sunsets are spectacular, though.
The hotel offers some free fitness classes as well. I took part in a Yoga class and it was great. There’s also a mini market with fair prices in the resort as well as a doctor.
Breakfast was delicious and you can choose from a lot of dishes.Ian from Australia (9/10)

Sunprime is in a great location near the beach with many other destinations within walking distance. Our bed was very big and comfortable. The breakfast was decent and had several options for vegetarians. The pools were clean and well maintained. The resort offered live music and entertainment on several different nights which was a nice treat. The wifi was reliable and fast.

The location is the best in Kamala beach. Walk right out on to the beach. 1 min walk to the Kamala night market on Friday & Mondays. 3 min walk to carnival.
The pools were clean and proper temp
The staff was 10/10 nice and respectful, the wait staff went above and beyond to serve you
The laundry service was super fast and affordable, they got all stains out of our clothes too
The food was excellent, all the Thai dishes were great and the spread for breakfast was great. There was Thai options, US options, and UK options. If you were missing food from home it was nice to get your fill in the morning.
