First Impressions

When I first walked into Sunprime Kamala Beach, I honestly wasn’t expecting much — you know how four-star beach hotels can sometimes feel a bit generic. But this place actually surprised me in the best way. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe without being sterile, and you can immediately sense that someone put real thought into the details. What really caught my attention was how quiet everything felt, even though we were just steps from one of Phuket’s most popular beaches.

Here’s the thing about Kamala Beach — it’s got that perfect balance between being lively enough to have good restaurants and chill enough that you’re not dodging jet skis every five minutes. The hotel sits in what locals consider the prime stretch of the area, and honestly, I can see why couples rate the location so highly. You’re literally a two-minute walk to the sand, but tucked back just enough that you don’t get the constant noise from beach vendors. I mean, when you want the action, it’s right there, but when you want to decompress, you actually can.

The Room Experience

I’ll be straight with you — the beds here are genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable. After spending way too many nights on questionable mattresses during my Thailand travels, finding a room where I actually slept through the night was pretty refreshing. The space itself feels thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together, with enough storage that you’re not living out of your suitcase the entire time. The air conditioning works properly (trust me, this matters more than you think in Phuket), and the bathroom setup is practical without trying too hard to be fancy.

Food and Facilities

The breakfast buffet is one of those pleasant surprises — they’ve got the usual international options, but also some solid Thai dishes that don’t feel like watered-down tourist versions. I actually found myself looking forward to it each morning, which doesn’t always happen at beach hotels. The fitness center is small but has the essentials, and there’s a pool table and ping-pong setup that creates this nice social atmosphere in the evenings. Oh, and the parking situation is refreshingly straightforward if you end up renting a scooter or car to explore the island.

What makes this place work is that it doesn’t try to be everything to everyone — it just does the beach hotel thing really well. The staff seems genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions, and the whole property has this relaxed energy that matches what most people are actually looking for in Kamala Beach. You’re close enough to Patong if you want the party scene, but far enough away that you can actually unwind. For couples especially, it hits that sweet spot of being romantic without being overly formal or stuffy.

  This is a big resort hotel. For someone who’s never set foot into a resort hotel before, the sheer size and the amount of people on sunbeds around the pools were a bit of a shock. It’s quite a long way from the reception to the hotel’s beach exit.
  
  That said: My mom and I spent two nights in the hotel after traveling through Thailand. The idea was to end our trip with some relaxation under palm trees.
  
  The hotel has got two restaurants, one of them offering beautiful sea views. The people are very nice and there are Western and Thai dishes on the menu. Upon leaving the hotel, you’re right at the beach. It’s a beautiful beach with white sand and a lot of palm trees, but it’s very crowded. The sunsets are spectacular, though.
  
  The hotel offers some free fitness classes as well. I took part in a Yoga class and it was great. There’s also a mini market with fair prices in the resort as well as a doctor.
  
  Breakfast was delicious and you can choose from a lot of dishes.

  Sunprime is in a great location near the beach with many other destinations within walking distance. Our bed was very big and comfortable. The breakfast was decent and had several options for vegetarians. The pools were clean and well maintained. The resort offered live music and entertainment on several different nights which was a nice treat. The wifi was reliable and fast.

  The location is the best in Kamala beach. Walk right out on to the beach. 1 min walk to the Kamala night market on Friday & Mondays. 3 min walk to carnival.
  The pools were clean and proper temp
  The staff was 10/10 nice and respectful, the wait staff went above and beyond to serve you
  The laundry service was super fast and affordable, they got all stains out of our clothes too
  The food was excellent, all the Thai dishes were great and the spread for breakfast was great. There was Thai options, US options, and UK options. If you were missing food from home it was nice to get your fill in the morning.
