The name actually makes sense once you’re there – it really is perched up on a hillside, and yeah, there are palm trees everywhere. I mean, I’ve stayed at plenty of places where the name seems completely random, but this one delivers on the imagery.

The whole place has this four-star vibe that feels just right – not trying too hard to be ultra-luxurious, but definitely a step up from your standard hotel experience. Honestly, the 8.0 rating they’ve got seems pretty spot-on from what I experienced. The rooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into furniture every time you turn around, and the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses, so that’s saying something). What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – being up on that hillside means you’re away from the main road noise, which makes a huge difference if you’re a light sleeper like me.

The hillside location is both a blessing and something to consider. On the plus side, you get these gorgeous views that change throughout the day – sunrise hitting the valley below is pretty spectacular, and the sunset views from the upper floors are worth the stay alone. But just so you know, if you’re planning to walk everywhere, you’ll be doing some uphill hiking to get back. It’s not terrible, but after a long day of sightseeing, that incline definitely makes itself known. The staff seemed to get this though – I noticed they were pretty accommodating about arranging transportation, which shows they understand their location’s quirks. The whole SHA Plus certification thing was actually reassuring too, especially these days when you want to know a place takes health protocols seriously. They handled check-in smoothly without making it feel like you’re going through airport security, which I’ve experienced at some other certified places. Overall, it’s one of those hotels that just works – the kind of place where you settle in quickly and don’t spend your vacation dealing with little annoyances that add up.
