I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Solas Pool Villa in Nai Harn, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The area down in Nai Harn is pretty tucked away from all the Patong madness, which is exactly why I love it. This four-star place sits in one of those quiet pockets where you can actually hear the waves from Nai Harn Beach instead of motorbikes revving all night.

What really got me was the villa setup – you know how some places advertise “private pool” and it turns out to be this tiny plunge thing? Not here. Each villa actually has its own proper swimming area, and I mean proper. I spent way too much time just floating around in the morning with my coffee, watching the local birds do their thing in the surrounding trees. The staff here gets it too – they’re not hovering constantly but somehow always appear when you need fresh towels or restaurant recommendations. Speaking of which, they pointed me toward this little local place about ten minutes away where the som tam actually made me sweat (in the best way).

The location is honestly perfect if you’re trying to avoid the tourist circus but still want to be near decent beaches. Nai Harn Beach is basically a five-minute walk down the hill, and it’s one of those spots where you’ll see more locals than tour groups – especially if you go early morning or late afternoon. I actually bumped into the same Thai family there three days in a row, and by day three we were nodding hellos like old neighbors. The villa itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a hotel, which I mean in the best possible way. Everything works properly (the air con doesn’t sound like a dying elephant, the wifi actually reaches the pool area), and there’s this relaxed vibe that makes you want to extend your stay. Fair warning though – if you’re looking for nightlife within walking distance, this isn’t your spot. But honestly, after a few days of floating in your own pool with a Chang beer and watching the sunset paint the sky ridiculous colors, you probably won’t care about finding a club anyway.
