I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Serenity Rawai by Destada, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The name sounds fancy enough, but you know how that goes sometimes. This four-star spot sits in Rawai, which is honestly one of my favorite parts of Phuket because it’s got that laid-back fishing village vibe that hasn’t been completely swallowed by resort madness yet. The hotel itself has this modern boutique feel – not massive like those sprawling complexes further north, but that’s actually what I ended up loving about it.

What really struck me was how they’ve managed to create this bubble of calm while still being close to everything that makes Rawai special. I mean, you’re maybe a five-minute walk from the pier where all the longtail boats hang out, and the local seafood market is right there if you want to see where your dinner actually came from. The rooms have this contemporary design that feels fresh without being sterile – lots of clean lines and neutral tones, but with enough local touches that you remember you’re in Thailand. The bathrooms are particularly nice, actually, with rainfall showers that have proper water pressure (trust me, this matters more than you think when you’re washing off a day at the beach). One thing I noticed is that the street-facing rooms can pick up some noise from the main road, especially during morning rush when everyone’s heading to work, but honestly it’s not terrible and it dies down pretty quickly.

The pool area is where this place really shines, though. It’s not huge, but it’s perfectly designed for lounging with a book or just floating around with a drink. The staff here genuinely seem to care – not in that overly scripted way you get at some places, but like they actually want you to have a good time. They’ll point you toward the best local spots without trying to upsell you on tours, which I always appreciate. Rawai Beach itself is literally across the street, and while it’s not the pristine swimming beach that some people expect (it’s more of a working waterfront), it’s got character and some surprisingly good sunset views. Plus, you can easily grab a longtail to the nearby islands when you want that postcard-perfect beach experience. The breakfast spread is solid – nothing revolutionary, but fresh fruit, decent coffee, and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying more than a few days. Overall, it’s one of those places that just works – comfortable, well-located, and run by people who know what they’re doing.

  The hotel facilities were fantastic with a great location in the beach . Great pool and vibe , super chilled and slick. We booked a fantastic apartment with a balcony and we felt very comfortable. Our aircon was not working when we arrived and the agents promptly resolved it for us .

  Un alojamiento precioso, muy buenas instalaciones, prácticamente nuevo. Las camas eran como si te tumbaras en una nube. Te dejaban todo a mano, champú, albornoces… las vistas eran preciosas.
