YaNui is one of those spots that feels almost hidden away on Phuket’s southern tip, tucked between the more famous Nai Harn and Windmill Viewpoint. But you know what? This three-star place really lives up to its name – rustic is definitely the right word here. I mean, don’t expect marble bathrooms or a concierge desk, but there’s something genuinely charming about the simplicity. The apartment sits close enough to the beach that you can actually hear the waves at night (which I loved, though light sleepers might want to pack earplugs). What really got me was stepping out in the morning and realizing you’re maybe a three-minute walk from one of the most peaceful stretches of sand I’ve found in Thailand. YaNui beach itself is this small, almost private feeling cove – nothing like the crowds at Patong or even Kata. There’s usually just a handful of longtail boats bobbing in the bay and maybe some locals selling fresh fruit from coolers under the trees.

The apartment itself is pretty straightforward – clean, functional, with that slightly worn-in feel that comes with being so close to salt air. The kitchen actually works well if you want to grab supplies from the little local market about ten minutes up the road, and honestly, making coffee while watching the sunrise over the Andaman Sea isn’t the worst way to start your day. Parking can be a bit tricky during high season, but most of the time you’ll find a spot without too much hassle. What I really appreciated was how quiet everything gets once the day-trippers head back to their resorts – by evening, it’s just you, the sound of the ocean, and maybe a few other travelers who stumbled onto this little corner of paradise. The location puts you close enough to explore the Windmill Viewpoint (incredible sunset spot) and you’re still only about fifteen minutes from the livelier scene at Nai Harn if you want restaurants and nightlife. It’s not luxury by any stretch, but sometimes that’s exactly the point.
