I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Rico’s Patong Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much from this three-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots end up being the real gems, and Rico’s definitely falls into that category. The lobby has this laid-back vibe that immediately tells you this isn’t trying to be some fancy resort – it’s just a solid, comfortable place to crash after long days exploring Patong’s chaotic streets.

What really won me over was how the staff actually seemed to care about making your stay work. I mean, the front desk guy (I think his name was Somchai) remembered my room number by day two and would wave when I’d stumble back from Bangla Road at questionable hours. The rooms are clean and functional – nothing Instagram-worthy, but the AC works like a dream (crucial in that humidity), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. I actually slept better here than at some pricier places I’ve stayed in Phuket. The bathrooms are compact but well-maintained, though the shower pressure can be a bit temperamental in the mornings when everyone’s getting ready.

Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned without being right in the middle of the madness. It’s maybe a seven-minute walk to the main beach area and all those beach clubs, but far enough back that you won’t have drunk tourists yelling outside your window at 3 AM. There’s a little family-run restaurant just around the corner that serves incredible pad thai for like 80 baht – the kind of place you’d never find if you stayed at one of those big beachfront hotels. The pool area is nothing fancy, but it’s clean and actually gets some decent afternoon sun, which is perfect for recovering from the night before. I spent quite a few afternoons there with a book and a Chang beer, just watching the controlled chaos of Patong life happen around me. With an 8.1 rating from other travelers, it’s clear I’m not the only one who appreciates what Rico’s brings to the table – sometimes you just want a place that does the basics really well without all the pretentious extras.

  We wanted a hotel close to Bangla Road for one night and Rico’s fit the bill. The rooms were clean if a little dated. Use of the pool at the hotel next door was a welcome addition we didn’t expect. And complimentary tea and coffee in reception too.

  We were looking for a one night Bangla Road location – you won’t find a better spot than this for Bangla Road.

  Really central place in Patong, it’s a really noisy neighborhood as it is a side road of Bangla road where is focused most of the nightlife. It’s 50 meters far from the beach and you are really close to whatever you could need (banks, food, drugstores….). Friendly staff and nice showers in the room.
