Location-wise, you’re positioned perfectly if you want to explore the real Phuket without being stuck in tourist central. The Big Buddha is maybe fifteen minutes away by scooter, and you can actually get to some of the less crowded beaches on the east coast pretty easily from here. There’s a decent local market about ten minutes walk down the road where you can grab actual Thai prices on food and supplies – the som tam there is legitimately good, and the lady who runs it started recognizing me by day three. Parking was never an issue, which honestly surprised me given how tight things can get in some parts of the island. The breakfast is nothing spectacular, but it’s included and fills you up before heading out for the day. For what you’re paying at a place with an 8.2 rating, Ratana Residence delivers exactly what it promises – a solid, unpretentious base camp for exploring Phuket without the resort markup or the backpacker chaos.
