Racha Island Resort (Rayaburi) Overview

You know what? I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Racha Island Resort (Rayaburi), I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Racha Island isn’t exactly on every tourist’s radar, and honestly, that’s part of what makes this place so appealing. It’s this gorgeous little island just south of Phuket, maybe a 40-minute boat ride from Chalong Pier, and the four-star resort sits right there on Patok Beach with some of the clearest water I’ve ever seen.

The thing about staying here is that you’re essentially committing to island time – and I mean that in the best possible way. There’s no popping out for a quick coffee run or grabbing dinner at that place down the street. You’re here, the resort staff becomes your world, and the pace just… slows down. The rooms are actually quite nice (I stayed in one of the beachfront villas and woke up to hermit crabs shuffling around on my deck), though you can tell the property has that slightly weathered tropical feel that comes with being surrounded by salt air year-round. The air conditioning works great though, which honestly matters more than pristine paint when you’re dealing with that Thai heat.

What really gets me about this place is how the staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work. I mean, they’re dealing with boat schedules, weather changes, and guests who sometimes get a bit stir-crazy on a small island, but they handle it all with this calm efficiency. The restaurant overlooks the bay, and while the food isn’t going to win any awards, it’s solid and there’s something magical about eating pad thai while watching longtail boats bob in crystal-clear water. The snorkeling right off the beach is actually incredible – I saw more fish in twenty minutes than I did during an expensive boat tour elsewhere. Just watch out for the sea urchins near the rocks (learned that one the hard way). The resort gets busy during high season, especially with day-trippers who come over from Phuket, but early mornings and late afternoons are pure paradise. If you’re looking for nightlife or shopping, this definitely isn’t your spot, but if you want to disconnect and actually relax without constant interruptions, Racha Island delivers in a way that’s hard to find these days.

Apartments in Phuket provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional markets and experience daily life in charming areas like Old Phuket Town and Kamala Beach.
