The thing about Phuket is that everyone flocks to Patong or Kata, but Panwa Beach – I mean, it’s tucked away on this quieter peninsula where you actually feel like you’re somewhere special instead of just another tourist processing center. The resort sits right on this private stretch of beach that faces east, which means you get these incredible sunrise views over the bay (though honestly, if you’re more of a sunset person, you might miss those famous Phuket evening colors). The five-star rating isn’t just marketing fluff here – you can tell in the details, like how the staff remembers your name after one conversation, or the way they’ve designed the pools so you’re not fighting for space even when the place is busy.

What really got me was the hillside location – and yes, that means some walking uphill, so pack accordingly. But the views from those higher villas are absolutely worth the mini workout. You’re looking out over Chalong Bay with all these longtail boats dotting the water, and on clear days you can see the other islands scattered across the horizon. The spa, which is built into the hillside, actually uses this natural setting instead of fighting against it. I had a massage there during a late afternoon thunderstorm, and listening to the rain on the roof while looking out at the grey-green jungle was honestly more relaxing than any generic treatment room with elevator music.

The pools – there are several – each have their own personality. The main infinity pool gets busy around midday when families are out, but there’s this smaller adult pool higher up that most people seem to miss. Pro tip: the swim-up bar actually makes decent cocktails, not the watered-down resort nonsense you sometimes get. Food-wise, the breakfast spread is solid (the fresh tropical fruit alone is worth getting up for), and while the restaurants aren’t going to revolutionize your understanding of Thai cuisine, they’re definitely respectable. Though honestly, you’re a quick tuk-tuk ride from some amazing local spots in Chalong if you want to venture out.

The rooms – well, they’re what you’d expect from Pullman, which is to say thoughtfully designed and comfortable without being flashy. The balconies are generous, and if you can swing an ocean-view room, do it. There’s something about having your morning coffee while watching the fishing boats head out that just sets the right tone for the day. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the property, which isn’t always a given at these sprawling resorts, and the air conditioning is powerful enough to handle those sticky afternoons without sounding like a jet engine.

Is it perfect? Well, the beach isn’t the pristine white sand you see in some parts of Thailand – it’s more of a golden brown – and the water can get a bit choppy depending on the season. But there’s something authentic about this place that I appreciated. It feels like a proper resort without losing that sense of place that makes Thailand special.

  I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Pullman Panwa Hotel in Phuket, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment we arrived, the service was top-notch. A special shout-out to Atchi, who was incredibly helpful and kind during our check-in process, making us feel instantly at home.
  
  The food was an absolute highlight—beyond excellent! Congratulations to the sublime chef, Mr. Kauder, whose culinary creations were both delicious and beautifully presented. Every meal was a delight, showcasing a perfect balance of flavors that left us eager for the next dish.
  
  The hotel’s location was serene and picturesque, offering a peaceful retreat away from the bustling city. It's also a very kids-friendly hotel, which is wonderful for families. However, for guests without children, it may take a few days to fully adapt to the lively atmosphere created by younger guests. While this wasn’t a major issue, it’s something to consider if you’re seeking a more tranquil, adults-only environment.
  
  One minor downside was the tide, which impacted the water clarity during our stay. Of course, this is entirely beyond the hotel’s control and didn’t detract from the overall beauty of the surroundings.
  
  Overall, we had a wonderful and pleasant experience at Pullman Panwa and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing getaway in Phuket.

  The view from the Seaview rooms are really wonderful. We had coffee at the balcony every morning just to enjoy the view. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The pool was just the right size with quiet corners if you want some privacy. We went for daily massages at a very good massage place just across the road called Dar Lar Massage. Excellent massages and really value for money. And the cafe to the left of the hotel across the road… the food was just wow.

  The resort staff were always cheerful and had a big smile on! They were always ready to give their best to help with whatever we needed. The hotel rooms were quite spacious and the balcony we had was an added benefit.
