I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to PS Hotel Phuket Patong – SHA Plus, I wasn’t expecting much from this three-star place tucked away in the heart of Patong. You know how it is with mid-range hotels in busy beach towns, they can go either way. But this one actually surprised me in a good way.

The location is what really sells it, I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Bangla Road – close enough that you can stumble back after a night out, but far enough that you won’t be kept awake by the street performers and tuk-tuk horns until 3 AM. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions like you sometimes get. They actually drew me a little map showing the best way to get to the beach without getting caught up in the main tourist crush on Beach Road. Small thing, but it mattered.

The rooms are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but the AC works properly (crucial in Phuket humidity), and the Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building. I stayed on the fourth floor and could catch glimpses of the ocean if I craned my neck from the small balcony, though honestly, you’re not booking this place for the views. What I appreciated was how quiet it got at night despite being so central. The walls aren’t paper-thin like some budget places I’ve stayed at around here. The bathroom was a bit cramped, sure, but the hot water was consistent and the pressure was decent – again, basics done right. There’s a small pool on the roof that’s perfect for cooling off in the afternoon heat, though it gets crowded around sunset when everyone has the same idea. The breakfast spread is pretty standard Thai hotel fare, but the coffee was surprisingly good and they had fresh fruit that actually tasted like it was picked recently, not sitting in a fridge for days. You’re also within walking distance of some great local food spots that most tourists miss – there’s this little som tam place down the soi that locals go to, and the night market stalls have better prices than anything near the main beach strip. For what you pay, especially during high season when everything else gets ridiculously expensive, it’s solid value and the kind of place where you can base yourself to explore without breaking the bank.
