Prayai Changthai Resort Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Prayai Changthai Resort, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s got that authentic Thai charm that you don’t always find at the bigger chain hotels, you know? The kind of place where the staff actually remembers your name after the first day, and the lobby feels more like someone’s really well-decorated living room than a sterile hotel entrance.

What really struck me about this three-star spot is how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between comfort and character. The rooms aren’t going to win any design awards, but they’re genuinely comfortable – and honestly, that matters more when you’re actually trying to sleep after a long day of exploring. The air conditioning works (crucial in Thailand, trust me), the beds are surprisingly good, and there’s this little terrace area where you can sit with your morning coffee and just… breathe. I mean, isn’t that what vacation should feel like? The bathrooms are clean and functional, though the water pressure can be a bit temperamental – but that’s pretty standard for this type of place.

The pool area is where this resort really shines, actually. It’s not massive, but it’s got these great shaded spots and the water’s always perfectly maintained. I spent way more time there than I planned, just reading and occasionally cooling off. The restaurant serves solid Thai food – nothing revolutionary, but the pad thai is legit and they make a mean green curry that had just the right amount of heat. What I appreciated most was how quiet everything gets in the evenings. You’re not dealing with loud pool parties or music pumping until all hours, which was perfect for me since I actually wanted to relax. The staff goes out of their way to help with recommendations too – they pointed me toward this incredible local market that I never would have found on my own. Sure, the WiFi can be spotty in some areas and the decor feels a bit dated, but there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on the basics and does them well. For the price point, you’re getting genuine hospitality and a peaceful base to explore from, which honestly beats fancy amenities that you’ll barely use anyway.

Very nice resort in quiet part of Phuket which I preffer, Chalong is not that much tourist location which again give it autenticity, its on the edge of beautifull hills and nature, there are small restaurants around with cheap and big portions of tasty food, garden around resort makes it looks realy nice and tropic, room was big and clean with very good vibe, also bathroom, there was pretty loud concert of frogs one night 😅 but it doesnt bothered me as those are sounds of nature
