First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Prayai Changthai Resort, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star property. But you know what? This place surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked away in Chalong, which means you’re close enough to Phuket Town for day trips but far enough out to actually relax. Plus, there’s parking right on-site, which is actually a bigger deal than you’d think in this area.

Location & Getting Around

Chalong is honestly one of my favorite parts of Phuket to stay in. You’re about 15 minutes from the main town, but the real advantage is being close to some of the island’s best beaches without the crowds. Couples seem to really get this — I mean, the location scores speak for themselves. From here, you can easily hit up Kata or Karon beaches, and the famous Big Buddha is practically next door. The area feels more like real Thailand, with local markets and authentic street food just down the road.

The Accommodation

My room was simple but clean, which is exactly what I wanted after long days exploring the island. The Thai-style décor actually works here — it doesn’t feel forced or touristy. The air conditioning runs quietly (crucial in this heat), and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. I appreciated the little touches, like the traditional wooden furniture and the way they’ve incorporated local design elements. It’s not fancy, but it’s thoughtfully done and feels authentic to the place you’re visiting.

Dining & Atmosphere

The on-site restaurant serves solid Thai food at reasonable prices — I actually ended up eating there more than I planned because the pad thai was legitimately good. The staff clearly takes pride in their cooking, and you can taste the difference. Breakfast is simple but fresh, with both Thai and Western options. What I really loved was sitting on the terrace in the evenings — there’s something peaceful about the way the place settles into the night, with just the sounds of tropical birds and distant temple bells.

The location gives you the best of both worlds — close enough to attractions but peaceful enough to actually unwind.   Good spacious room with quality furniture, everyday cleaning, the swimming pool (never used it though), nice stuff (the boy was playing a video game and didn't notice me arriving 😂), beautiful garden

  Very nice resort in quiet part of Phuket which I preffer, Chalong is not that much tourist location which again give it autenticity, its on the edge of beautifull hills and nature, there are small restaurants around with cheap and big portions of tasty food, garden around resort makes it looks realy nice and tropic, room was big and clean with very good vibe, also bathroom, there was pretty loud concert of frogs one night 😅 but it doesnt bothered me as those are sounds of nature
