She’ll sit with you while you eat if it’s not too busy and share all these insider tips about which beaches to hit when, where to get the best pad thai (spoiler: it’s not where all the tourists go), and how to actually negotiate with tuk-tuk drivers without getting completely ripped off. That kind of local knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to experience the real Phuket.

The location is actually pretty smart too – you’re close enough to the main tourist areas that getting around isn’t a hassle, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant noise and chaos that comes with being right in the thick of things. I slept better here than I did at the supposedly fancier place I stayed at during the first part of my trip. There’s something to be said for that neighborhood feel where you can actually hear the roosters in the morning instead of just traffic and drunk tourists stumbling back to their hotels at 3 AM.

Look, this isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea – if you need a pool, room service, and all those resort amenities, you’ll want to look elsewhere. But if you’re the type of traveler who values authentic experiences and genuine hospitality over Instagram-worthy lobby shots, Pim’s place delivers in spades. It’s got that rare quality of feeling like you’re staying with a knowledgeable local friend rather than just being another booking number. For what you pay, especially considering how expensive Phuket can get, it’s honestly a steal.
