The thing about Mai Khao Beach is that it’s not your typical Phuket scene – I mean, you’re not going to find the crazy nightlife or packed beaches like down in Patong. This is the quiet end of the island, where the beach stretches for miles and you can actually hear yourself think. The Orchidilla sits right in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to the beach (maybe a 5-minute walk through some local streets) but tucked away from any tourist chaos. I actually loved the morning walks down to the water – you pass by these little family-run shops where locals are setting up for the day, and there’s this authentic rhythm to everything that you just don’t get at the bigger resort areas.

What really got me about this place was how much effort they put into the details, despite being a smaller property. The rooms are honestly way nicer than you’d expect – clean lines, decent air conditioning that actually works (trust me, this matters in Thailand), and these little touches like local artwork that make it feel less generic. The pool area became my go-to spot in the afternoons when the heat got intense, and it never felt crowded even when the place was full. Actually, the whole vibe reminded me more of a boutique guesthouse than a typical hotel chain – the staff genuinely seemed to remember guests and would chat about good local restaurants or where to catch the best sunset views. I ended up eating at this incredible seafood place about 10 minutes away that the front desk guy recommended, and it was honestly some of the best tom yum I had during my entire trip. The location works really well if you’re planning to explore the northern part of the island – you’re pretty close to the airport (which is both convenient and occasionally noisy, though not too bad), and it’s an easy base for day trips to some of the less touristy temples and viewpoints. I mean, you’ll probably want to rent a scooter or use grab cars to get around, but that’s pretty standard for Phuket anyway.

  Calm, serene, few people on the beach. Just 10 min walk to the beach with 7/11 right next door and MANY extremely delicious and affordable meals. The fruit is delicious and a full kitchen let's you enjoy the mangoes as well. We took day trips to old phuket, phi phi island tours and central phuket. It was nice to come back and relax in a quiet domicile after the hustle and bustle of an active day. The owners Dirk and Ohm were extremely courteous and very helpful..

  Dirk and Ohm were amazing hosts, the resort was beautiful and clean with very clean facilities such as the pool. They couldn't be more helpful on arrival with suggestions of activities and places to eat. Will definitely be returning when we come back.

  So relaxing place in a small village, near the wild Mai Khao Beach.
  The host and his wife and all the staff were so kind and helpful. They even ordered the dinner for me, when I arrived in the late evening and was too tired to go out. Also Dirk gave so much useful information about everything. Thank you very much!
  The pool in the tropical garden was so nice, especially after the heat of the day. Very clean rooms, good wifi.
  5 minutes walk to 7/11 and many good restaurants around. The Yum Yum restaurant near the beach was just fantastic…
  You can walk there (about 20 min) or take a tuk tuk or taxi.
