But actually stepping onto the property completely changed my mind. This five-star resort has this intimate villa setup that feels more like staying at a wealthy friend’s compound than a traditional hotel.

What really struck me was how they’ve managed to create privacy without making you feel isolated. Each villa sits in its own little pocket of tropical landscaping – I mean, the attention to detail is remarkable. You’ll find these beautiful stone pathways winding between properties, and honestly, I got a little lost the first couple of days just because everything feels so naturally integrated into the landscape. The villas themselves are spacious (mine had this incredible outdoor shower that I probably used more than the indoor one), and the furnishings strike that perfect balance between luxury and actually being comfortable to live in for a week.

The service here operates on a different level entirely. Instead of that formal hotel approach where staff seem scripted, the team here genuinely remembers your preferences after day one. My villa host, Maria, started leaving my coffee setup exactly how I liked it without me even asking after the second morning. And you know what really impressed me? When it rained one afternoon – which happens in the tropics, obviously – they proactively moved our planned beachside dinner to this gorgeous covered pavilion I didn’t even know existed. The food, by the way, goes well beyond typical resort fare. Their chef clearly sources locally because everything tastes like it was picked that morning, and they’re surprisingly accommodating about dietary restrictions without making it feel like a big production.

The beach access is probably the property’s crown jewel, though they don’t oversell it in their marketing (which I appreciate). It’s this secluded stretch that feels almost private – I rarely saw more than a handful of other guests during my morning walks. The water stays surprisingly calm most days, perfect for that lazy floating you can really only do on vacation. Evenings get magical here too, especially around sunset when they light these subtle pathway torches that guide you back to your villa. I will say the WiFi can be spotty in some villas, but honestly? That ended up being a blessing because it forced me to actually disconnect for once. If you’re planning to visit, book directly with them rather than through third parties – they have this welcome amenity program that’s actually worthwhile, unlike most hotel perks that turn out to be miniature soaps you don’t need.
