I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Ocean and Ole Patong Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much from this three-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots end up surprising you in the best way possible. This hotel sits right in the heart of Patong, and I mean really in the thick of things – you’re practically breathing distance from all the action on Bangla Road, but somehow they’ve managed to create this little bubble where you can actually get some decent sleep.

The lobby has this quirky mix of traditional Thai touches and beach-casual vibes that actually works better than it sounds on paper. What really sold me, though, was talking to the front desk staff – they know their stuff about the local scene, and I mean beyond just the touristy recommendations everyone gives you. One guy told me about this little seafood spot tucked away behind the main strip that I never would’ve found otherwise, and honestly, it ended up being one of my favorite meals of the trip. The rooms themselves are pretty solid for what you’re paying – nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable beds, and the air conditioning actually works (which, let’s face it, is non-negotiable in this heat). I stayed on the fourth floor and could hear some street noise, but it’s Patong – if you wanted complete silence, you picked the wrong neighborhood.

What I really appreciated was how walkable everything is from here. The beach is literally a five-minute stroll, and you’re close enough to all the restaurants and bars that you don’t need to worry about tuk-tuk rides every time you want to grab dinner. The pool area is small but does the job – perfect for cooling off in the afternoon when the sun gets brutal. I spent quite a few evenings up there just people-watching and planning the next day. The hotel definitely shows its age in some spots, and the breakfast is pretty basic (though the fresh fruit makes up for a lot), but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole place. The cleaning staff keeps everything tidy, and maintenance issues get sorted quickly – I had a problem with my bathroom door handle and they fixed it within an hour. For a mid-range spot in one of Phuket’s busiest areas, Ocean and Ole Patong delivers exactly what it promises without trying to be something it’s not.

  We absolutely love this place. Staff are amazing and super nice and helpful . The beds are very comfortable. Located right next to night markets with amazing food and a short walk to the famous bangler Road and Beach. This is our 3rd time here, and we will be back again. Also, there is a nice quiet rooftop pool to cool down in after a day out in the sun.
