I’ll be honest – when I first walked into NR Nanai Patong, I wasn’t expecting much from this three-star place tucked away on Nanai Road. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots surprise you the most. The lobby has this clean, no-nonsense vibe that immediately told me they focus on getting the basics right rather than flashy amenities you’ll never use.

What really won me over was the location – and I mean this in the best possible way for Patong standards. You’re close enough to all the action that you can easily walk to the beach or hit up Bangla Road when the mood strikes, but far enough up Nanai that you actually get some sleep at night. I stayed there during peak season (big mistake everywhere else in Patong, honestly), and while I could hear the distant hum of motorbikes and the occasional late-night reveler, it wasn’t the chaos you get closer to the main strip. The staff actually knows the area well too – they pointed me toward this little local spot for pad thai that I never would’ve found otherwise, just a five-minute walk away.

The rooms are… well, they’re exactly what you’d expect from a solid three-star. Clean sheets, decent air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a jet engine, and a bathroom where everything actually works. I mean, the decor isn’t going to win any design awards, but after a day of sweating through Phuket’s humidity and dodging tuk-tuks, you just want a comfortable bed and a cold shower. The Wi-Fi held up pretty well too, which honestly can be hit or miss around here. One thing I appreciated – and this might sound weird – but the elevators were always working. You’d be surprised how many places I’ve stayed where that becomes an issue. Check-in was smooth, no drama with my booking, and they stored my luggage without any fuss when I arrived early. It’s those little things that make a difference when you’re dealing with long travel days and just want things to work without negotiation.
