I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to MONTANA Hotel & Hostel Phuket, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this three-star hybrid spot. But you know what? Sometimes the places that don’t try too hard end up being exactly what you need.

The thing about this place is that it actually gets the balance right between hotel comfort and hostel affordability. I mean, Phuket can absolutely destroy your budget if you’re not careful, so finding somewhere that doesn’t make you choose between a decent night’s sleep and eating for the rest of your trip is honestly refreshing. The hotel rooms are clean and straightforward – nothing fancy, but the air conditioning works (crucial in that humidity), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. The hostel side brings this nice energy without being party-central chaotic, which I appreciated after some long beach days.

What I really liked was how the staff seemed to actually know the area well. When I asked about getting to some of the less touristy beaches, they didn’t just hand me a generic map – they told me which songthaew routes to take and when to avoid the afternoon rush. The breakfast isn’t going to win any awards, but it’s solid and gets you going for the day. Plus, there’s this little convenience store practically next door where you can grab snacks or water bottles without paying resort prices. The location works well too – you’re not stuck in the middle of Patong madness, but you can still get there easily enough when you want to. I found myself walking to some great local spots for dinner that I probably wouldn’t have discovered if I’d stayed somewhere more isolated. One small thing – the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty in some rooms, so if you’re trying to work remotely, maybe check the signal strength when you check in. Overall though, for what you’re paying, MONTANA delivers on being a comfortable, no-nonsense base for exploring the island.

  Great location, the room is big, the bed is comfortable, in the lobby is coffee, tea, water ,sweets for free.

  The stuff people are really nice and friendly , they always try to help you and they give all to get it . I like them a lot . They were always kind to me . The property has free water and it is clean , the stuff is cleaning all time . You have also place for eating , free tee and so. You can also wash your cloths for extra money . Close to the beach . I really liked to be here . I recommend totally this place . Nice experience . Thank you guys 🤗

  The housekeeper (P'pui) and receptionists are very friendly! Good location near several eateries, food stores, massage parlors, pharmacies and 7-11s. 5-10minutes walk to the beach. Near public bus stops. The shared toilets for hostels are very clean and there's one on each floor. The location is also near the main road on a small street so that means Grab/Bolt cars can easily stop and pick up passengers. There's good wifi and an area to lounge. I see digital nomads working there at night. Free water/coffee/tea there too.
  
  Note that 500 baht in deposit has to be given in cash upon checking in and will be refunded at the end of stay.
  
  Toothbrush, lotion, soap, tissue/toilet paper are all provided.

  The place itself was really cute, had good amenities and the owners helped us plan excursions. Had a good pool table and snacks for sale at the front desk.
