You know what caught me off guard about Mitsu Guesthouse? It’s one of those places that completely defies your expectations of what a three-star property should be. I mean, when I first walked through the doors, I honestly thought I’d stumbled into somewhere much more expensive – there’s this immediate sense of calm that just washes over you.

The owners have this incredible eye for detail that you don’t often see at this price point. Every corner feels deliberately curated, from the way natural light filters through these beautiful wooden screens to how they’ve arranged the common areas so you actually want to spend time there. I ended up having some of my best conversations with fellow travelers over their complimentary tea service – and trust me, I’m usually the type who bolts straight to my room. The rooms themselves are smaller than what you might expect if you’re coming from a Western hotel mindset, but honestly? It works. Everything has its place, the bedding is surprisingly luxurious, and the bathrooms are spotless. I actually slept better here than I have in some five-star places, which probably says something about how they’ve nailed the basics.

What really sets this guesthouse apart – and maybe explains that impressive 9.4 rating – is how the staff seems to genuinely care about your experience. They remember your name after day one, they’ll sit down and draw you actual maps to local spots (not just hand you a generic brochure), and somehow they always know exactly when you need space versus when you might appreciate a chat. I watched them help an elderly couple navigate a pretty complicated train connection, spending like twenty minutes on the phone to sort everything out. That’s the kind of service that makes you want to come back, you know? The breakfast situation is simple but perfect – fresh, local ingredients prepared with obvious care. Sure, it’s not a massive buffet spread, but what they do offer is leagues better than the sad continental breakfast you’ll find at most places in this range. Even the coffee was decent, which honestly shocked me. If you’re looking for a place that feels more like staying with a knowledgeable local friend than checking into a hotel, this is your spot.

  We absolutely LOVED our stay here, it was definitely the most clean and modern, up to date and beautiful properties we had stayed in on our Thailand trip. The room was so spacious and spotlessly clean. The attentiveness and kindness of the host/receptionist was evident right away. The small details in the room like the pampas, towel decorations, shower and bathroom casings made for a very comfortable stay. Bed was comfortable, hot water in shower, had a TV, kettle, microwave and AC worked perfectly! We had a wonderful 2 nights and will definitely be back!

  We had wonderful experience at this cosy guesthouse. The spacious and well-lit rooms, comfortable beds, and the added bonus of a balcony have made our stay very enjoyable. Being on the ground floor and in a quiet location have added to the comfort and relaxation. The proximity to groceries and currency exchange is definitely convenient. It was also great that the facilities were clean and nice with polite and hospitable staff. The guesthouse amenities, including a big fridge, microwave oven, drying rack, table, and smart TV with YouTube and Netflix, have provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. On the way to Karon beach, one can enjoy multiple choice of cafes and restaurants, groceries and shops with fruits. We also liked to go to the market, just 5-7 minutes from the hotel. There is also a nice Turkish food restaurant nearby, with delicious kebabs.
  
  We were also grateful for the staff’s attention and Christmas presents with personalized card in our local language and free drinks.

  It is a great place to stay in Karon. Its 15-20 mins walk to the beach. The rooms are extremely clean and the decor is very asthetic. Everything at this property is good. There is a boba shop on the ground floor which is also great.
