You know what really struck me about Mission Hills Phuket Golf Resort-SHA Extra Plus? It’s one of those places where you can tell they actually understand golfers – and I mean really understand them, not just the surface-level stuff. This five-star resort sits in this gorgeous pocket of Phuket where the tropical landscape rolls into perfectly manicured fairways, and honestly, the setting alone is worth the trip.

I’ve stayed at plenty of golf resorts that feel like they’re trying too hard, but this place has this relaxed confidence about it. The championship course is beautifully challenging without being punishing – you know those holes where you’re cursing one minute and grinning the next? That’s this course in a nutshell. What I really appreciated was how they’ve designed it to work with Phuket’s natural terrain rather than fighting against it. The elevation changes give you these incredible views over the Andaman Sea, especially from the back nine, and there’s this hole (I think it was the 14th) where you’re hitting over a small valley that just takes your breath away.

The accommodations actually live up to that five-star rating, which isn’t always a given these days. My room had this perfect balance of Thai elegance and modern comfort – the kind of place where you want to hang out on your balcony with a beer after your round instead of immediately heading out to explore. The spa is solid too, and trust me, you’ll want those Thai massages after walking 18 holes in the humidity. What surprised me was how well they handle the non-golfers in your group – the pool area is genuinely relaxing, and they’ve got this great restaurant that does both excellent Thai dishes and familiar international food. The staff seemed to know exactly when to chat and when to leave you alone, which is a rare skill. I mean, the whole SHA Extra Plus certification thing shows they’re serious about health protocols, but they manage it without making you feel like you’re staying in a hospital. It’s just smart, thoughtful hospitality that lets you focus on why you came – great golf in paradise.

  Do to Covid Lock Down, hotel is getting ready to receive more guests not all rooms is ready, staff was working hard, very friendly. Our room was in perfect condition, full decorated with flowers on the bed, an elephant towel and tropical fruits in the fridge. Golf ground is impeccable. Hopefully they will have more guests on the hight season, this is happening in others resorts as well.
