Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Melissa Kata Beach Resort, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the mid-range spots surprise you in the best way possible, and this little gem on Kata Beach absolutely did that for me.

The thing about this resort is that it gets the fundamentals right without trying too hard to be fancy. My room was clean, actually spacious (which is saying something for Phuket), and the air conditioning worked like a dream – crucial when you’re dealing with that tropical humidity. The pool area became my go-to spot in the late afternoons, and I loved how it never felt overcrowded even during peak season. The staff here really made the difference though; they remember your name after day two and genuinely seem to care about whether you’re having a good time. I mean, the front desk guy actually drew me a little map showing the best route to avoid the main tourist crush when walking to the beach.

Speaking of the beach – and this is the real selling point – you’re literally a three-minute walk from one of the most beautiful stretches of sand on the island. Kata Beach is way more chill than Patong (thank god), but still has enough restaurants and beach bars to keep things interesting. I’d usually grab breakfast at the resort, spend the morning on the beach, then come back for a quick pool session before the afternoon heat got too intense. The resort’s location means you can easily walk to that amazing little Thai place tucked behind the 7-Eleven, or if you’re feeling lazy, just order room service and eat on your balcony. Honestly, after staying at some overpriced “luxury” places that felt like sterile hotels, this spot felt more like a comfortable base camp for actually experiencing Phuket. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with marble lobbies or infinity pools, but it delivers exactly what you need for a solid beach vacation without breaking the bank.

  I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Melissa. It's a very clean place with attentive staff who are always ready to help. The location is excellent, close to a 7-Eleven, on a quiet street that's within easy walking distance to the main street.
  
  I had a small issue when I left some clothes in one of the drawers. Fortunately, the owner was very kind and sent them to my next destination at no cost. A gesture I truly appreciated!
  
  I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and worry-free stay.

  Great stay at Melissa Kata Beach Resort! The location is ideal—just a short walk to the beach and surrounded by many restaurants. My room was quiet and peaceful, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s also convenient bike parking.
