I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place, but this little gem completely changed my perspective on what budget-friendly accommodation can actually deliver. I mean, with a 9.4 rating, something had to be going right – and after spending a few days there, I totally get why guests keep raving about it.

The thing is, MaiKhao Residence sits in this wonderfully quiet pocket where you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough away that you actually get some peace. I loved waking up without the constant hum of traffic or construction noise that seems to plague so many hotels these days. The staff – and I’m not just saying this because they were nice to me – genuinely seem to care about making your stay work. During check-in, this one guy (I think his name was Som?) actually drew me a little map showing the best route to avoid the main road congestion during rush hour. That’s the kind of insider knowledge you just don’t get at those massive chain hotels.

What really won me over, though, was how thoughtfully everything was designed. The rooms aren’t huge – let’s be honest about that – but they’re laid out so cleverly that you never feel cramped. There’s this little nook by the window that becomes your perfect coffee spot in the morning, and honestly, the bed was way more comfortable than I expected. I’m pretty picky about mattresses, and I slept like a rock every single night. The bathroom setup is smart too – they’ve got this rain shower head that actually has decent pressure, which… well, if you’ve traveled much in this region, you know that’s not always a given. The air conditioning works quietly and efficiently, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to get a good night’s sleep. One small thing that bugged me initially was the Wi-Fi being a bit spotty in certain corners of my room, but it was rock solid at the desk area where I actually needed to work. Overall, MaiKhao Residence delivers this rare combination of genuine warmth, practical comfort, and honest value that makes you want to come back – and actually tell your friends about it.

  The perfect location, halfway between the beach and the main road with restaurants. 7-11 close by. They had a bicycle I could use for free, so getting food or getting to the beach only took like 2 minutes. It was incredibly clean, I was so impressed when I first stepped in. They provided 4 giant bottles of water, saving me from carrying the heavy bottles from the store to my house. There were dishes and a kettle and a large fridge, and I was able to enjoy snacks and coffee at the cottage and have a leisurely morning. The location was so quiet and peaceful, and the hosts were friendly and accommodating.

  For us, the place was perfect. We wanted a quiet place away from the crowds, but near the beach. It was nice to have a kitchen, bikes, and a washing machine. There are some economical Restaurants only three blocks away . It is also near a 7-Eleven and another mini grocery store, so it was a very convenient place to stay.

  Superb calm location in MaiKhao village, 15 minutes drive from airport. great communication with the host and the bungalow did have everything we could need.
  Grab works perfectly for transport, food and convenience store orders.
  Bicycles provided free of charge and makes it handy for quick shopping.
  7/11 is 10 minutes walk away and accepts credit cards.
  Supercheap24 is around 30 minutes by walk. Cash only.
  Sunshine Steak restaurant has excellent food with great prices.

  This is a great holiday home. The house was huge for one person and was tucked away in a very quiet street, which I loved. You'll find coffee mugs, glasses, cooking utensils and big bottles of water in a medium-sized fridge, a foldable rack to hand your wet clothes, pairs of slippers, clean towels, a fan, a TV and mountain bicycles you can borrow free of charge. It's close to the beach and not far from 7-11 and the main road where restaurants are.

  This is the most wonderful property i have stayed in.
  The love and care that the owners give is beyond generous and as a single traveler i was in luxury.
  They left real coffee and 6 large bottles of water and high quality kitchen wear.
  It is perfect for a couple, children could not respect how much work someone went to to make this perfect little holiday home.
  You get free decent adult bicycles, the gardens are gorgeous, the pictures of this property do not show how lovely this little house is.

  Very clean, spacious and quiet property. Couple of minutes walk to the beach or shops. Bikes available to use. Air conditioning in the bedroom was excellent. Owner was very helpful and gave useful local information.
