Ma Doo Bua Stay – SHA Extra Plus Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Ma Doo Bua Stay – SHA Extra Plus? The name sounds almost playful, but this is actually a serious five-star property that takes its hospitality incredibly seriously. I mean, the SHA Extra Plus certification isn’t just some marketing badge – they’ve really gone above and beyond with their health and safety protocols, which honestly gave me extra peace of mind during my stay.
The first thing that struck me walking into the lobby was how they’ve managed to blend traditional Thai aesthetics with genuinely luxurious touches. There’s this gorgeous lotus motif throughout (ma doo bua literally means lotus in Thai, which I learned from one of the incredibly knowledgeable staff members), and it’s not just decorative – it actually creates this sense of calm that carries through the entire property. The rooms are spacious in a way that surprised me, especially the bathrooms which have these deep soaking tubs that I definitely took advantage of after long days exploring. The bed linens are that perfect weight where you sink in just enough, and the air conditioning actually works properly – something that can’t always be taken for granted.
What really sets this place apart though is the attention to detail that you only notice after you’ve been there a day or two. The housekeeping team somehow manages to anticipate exactly what you need (fresh towels appeared like magic, and they always restocked the coffee supplies before I even realized I was running low). The concierge service is genuinely helpful too – not just handing you generic tourist brochures, but actually listening to what you’re interested in and giving tailored suggestions. I asked about finding authentic local food, and they directed me to this incredible family-run place that I never would have discovered on my own. The on-site restaurant is solid, though honestly I found myself eating out most nights just because the location gives you so many amazing options within walking distance. One small thing – the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty in some corners of the property, but the main areas and rooms have strong connections. With a 7.5 rating, it’s not perfect, but it’s the kind of place where the staff’s genuine warmth and the thoughtful touches make up for any minor quirks. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between authentic Thai hospitality and modern luxury without the stuffiness of some of the bigger chain hotels, this is definitely worth considering.
To book a hotel in Phuket during peak season from December to March, travelers need early planning as this stunning island draws visitors eager to experience its crystal-clear waters and world-famous sunset views.

The coffee shop is really an amazing place and the varieties of drinks & food is also very good. The room was good and quiet, a bit away from the very crowded coffee shop. Ginger cat at the reception is super sweet!

The property is pretty. The breakfast included was terrible quality. don’t include it in your hotel rate, pay for a la carte instead because it’s better quality and you will end up paying the same amount. The hotel room had a bathtub but it didn’t work, so we couldn’t use it. The size was nice. The pool had too much chlorine in it and burned our eyes. Over all decent.
