Lucky Buako Hotel Patong Overview
Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first pulled up to Lucky Buako Hotel Patong, I wasn’t expecting much from this three-star place. The name alone had me scratching my head (what’s a “Buako” anyway?), but you know what? Sometimes the best travel surprises come from places that don’t try too hard to impress you right off the bat.
The thing about staying in Patong is that location trumps pretty much everything else, and this place gets that formula right. You’re actually close enough to hear the buzz from Bangla Road when things get rowdy – which, let’s face it, is most nights – but far enough back that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 3 AM. I mean, there’s still some noise, don’t get me wrong, but it’s that distant party hum rather than full chaos. The walk to the beach takes maybe seven or eight minutes, and honestly, those few extra minutes save you a decent chunk of money compared to the beachfront spots. Plus you’ll pass this little 7-Eleven that becomes your best friend for late-night snacks and cheap Chang beer.
What surprised me most was how the staff actually seemed to care about getting things right. The guy at reception – I think his name was Som – remembered that I liked extra towels without me having to ask twice, and when the AC in my room started making this weird rattling sound on my third night, they had someone up there fixing it within an hour. The rooms themselves are pretty standard for what you’d expect – clean sheets, decent shower pressure (though it takes a minute to heat up), and thankfully no mysterious stains or funky smells. The beds are on the firmer side, which I actually prefer, but if you’re used to those plushy hotel mattresses, just know you might need a day to adjust. There’s this small pool area that’s perfect for a quick dip when you need to cool off, though it gets pretty busy during the afternoon hours when everyone’s taking a break from the beach. The best time to use it is actually early morning around 7 or 8 – you’ll practically have it to yourself, and there’s something nice about starting your day with a swim before Patong fully wakes up. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the breakfast is pretty basic Thai and continental stuff, but for the price point and that 7.9 rating it’s earned, Lucky Buako delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense.

loved my stay here, amazing value for money and the staff always went out of their way to help me. they were even so kind to securely store my suitcase while I explored the south islands for two weeks. aside from the incredible service, the room was clean and comfortable and had everything I needed. the location was also perfect. 10/10 the place to stay. but because of this it’s very popular so be sure to book in advance as it fills up quick!

The room was pretty great, spacious and clean. Staff was friendly and attentive. It was open 24-7 so coming and going at late nights was not a problem. They had a restaurant downstairs and served alcohol and beer as well.
