Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Lovely 3BR Villa Olivia*Garden & Pool*Rawai, I wasn’t sure what to expect with that quirky name and all the asterisks. But you know what? This little three-star gem in Rawai actually surprised me in the best way possible.

The villa sits tucked away from the main Wiset Road chaos, which means you’re close enough to grab those amazing banana pancakes from the morning market (seriously, get there before 9 AM) but far enough that you won’t hear the longtail boats puttering around at dawn. The garden – and they’re not kidding about having one – feels like someone’s grandmother went a little wild with the planting. There’s frangipani everywhere, some fruit trees I couldn’t identify, and this laid-back tropical vibe that immediately makes you slow down. I mean, I found myself actually reading a book by the pool instead of scrolling my phone, which honestly never happens.

The three bedrooms are spread out nicely, so if you’re traveling with friends or family, nobody’s stepping on each other’s toes. The main bedroom has this big window that looks right out onto the garden, and you’ll wake up to birds that sound way better than any alarm clock. The pool isn’t Olympic-sized or anything fancy, but it’s perfect for cooling off after you’ve spent the day getting sunburned at Rawai Beach – which, by the way, is about a five-minute walk if you know the little shortcut through the rubber trees. The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to cook, and there’s something satisfying about grilling fresh fish you bought from the pier earlier that day. Just watch out for the neighborhood cats – they’re friendly but persistent when they smell food cooking. The whole place has this lived-in comfort that you don’t always get with vacation rentals, like someone actually thought about what travelers need instead of just throwing together the cheapest furniture possible. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the WiFi can be a bit moody during heavy rain, but there’s something genuinely relaxing about the whole setup that made my week there feel longer in the best way possible.

Hotel in Phuket booking should be done early, especially during high season when the island hosts internationally celebrated beach parties and cultural festivals at Patong Beach and other iconic locations.
