I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Layantara Resort, Phuket, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The name had been floating around in travel forums, but you know how it is with five-star places in Thailand – sometimes the hype doesn’t match reality. But actually, this one surprised me in the best way possible.

The thing about staying in Phuket is that you’re either dealing with the chaos of Patong or you’re tucked away somewhere that feels completely removed from everything. Layantara manages to hit this sweet spot where you feel like you’ve escaped the tourist madness without being stranded in the middle of nowhere. The resort sits on this gorgeous stretch of coastline, and I mean, the beach access alone makes it worth considering. What really got me though was how the staff seemed to actually remember your name after day one – not just the front desk people, but the folks at the pool bar, the housekeeping team. That’s rare, especially at bigger properties.

The rooms are… well, they’re pretty spectacular, but in a way that doesn’t feel like they’re trying too hard. I stayed in one of their ocean-view suites, and honestly, waking up to that view every morning never got old. The bathroom situation is particularly impressive – one of those deep soaking tubs that overlooks the water, which sounds cheesy but is actually perfect after a long day exploring the island. You know what I really appreciated? The air conditioning actually works properly (you’d be surprised how often that’s an issue in tropical resorts), and the Wi-Fi reaches the balcony, which meant I could work from that gorgeous outdoor space when needed. The minibar prices aren’t completely insane either, which is always a pleasant surprise. Now, I should mention that the resort does get busy during peak season – we’re talking December through February – so if you’re looking for that secluded paradise vibe, maybe aim for shoulder season. The pool area can feel a bit cramped when it’s at full capacity, but the beach is expansive enough that you can always find your own little corner. Service is consistently solid, though I noticed dinner reservations at their main restaurant book up fast, so don’t wait until the last minute. Overall, Layantara delivers on what it promises without the pretentious attitude you sometimes get at high-end places in popular destinations.

  Friendly und helpful staff. Hotel manager was very polite and supportive. The staff managed to arrange us whatever we asked for (extra towels, kitchen utensils etc)
  The villa is clean and beautiful and has a nice open showers and nice pool.
  Breakfast was delivered to our villa and was acceptable.
  Not far away from the airport. And it’s about 45 minutes far away from Patong.
  Recommended for people who want to enjoy the nature in private and quiet place.
  In general, it was value for money.
