I could walk to the good part of Kata Beach in about eight minutes – I timed it because I’m weird like that – and there’s this little local coffee spot just around the corner that serves the kind of Thai iced coffee that ruins you for the tourist versions. The whole area has this residential feel during the day, with local families going about their business, but come evening you’re still within easy reach of the beachfront restaurants and bars. Parking was never an issue either, which anyone who’s driven around Phuket’s beach towns will tell you is no small miracle. With a 9.2 rating from other travelers, I’m clearly not the only one who found this place hit that sweet spot between authentic local experience and reliable comfort – it’s the kind of place where you can actually relax without constantly wondering if something’s going to go wrong.
