The four-star rating feels about right; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but everything works properly and the rooms are surprisingly spacious. I mean, the bathroom alone was bigger than some entire hotel rooms I’ve stayed in around Southeast Asia.

You know what really won me over though? The breakfast setup overlooks this gorgeous stretch of beach, and if you time it right – maybe around 7:30 AM before the tour groups arrive – you’ll have these perfect moments where it’s just you, decent coffee, and one of Thailand’s most underrated beaches stretching out in front of you. The pool area gets lively during the day (fair warning if you’re looking for total quiet), but honestly, the energy is pretty infectious. I ended up chatting with this Australian couple who’d been coming back for three years straight, which says something. The 8.5 rating from other guests makes total sense once you settle in – it’s one of those places that grows on you rather than hitting you with flashy first impressions. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’ve found a solid home base rather than just another tourist factory, this place delivers on that front.

  The room was comfortable. It's only a few minutes' walk to the beach. Nighttime markets are within 10 min or less walking. The staff are friendly and accommodations clean.

  Modern small hotel with a fabulous roof top pool located in a quiet main access street with plenty of little shops including the best Japanese restaurant a stones throw away. The front desk staff, especially Lee, were so helpful and friendly. Rooms and bathrooms were massive and had a comfy bed.

  Kamala Resotel is modern, clean and well serviced by the staff. The pool on the roof is a bonus for relaxing early or later in the day when you have had your time at the beach.
