I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Kamala Beachfront Apartment, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place. But you know what? Sometimes these smaller properties surprise you in the best ways, and this one definitely did.

The location is really what sells it. I mean, you’re literally steps from Kamala Beach, which is still one of the quieter stretches along Phuket’s west coast – not completely undiscovered like it used to be, but way more chill than Patong or Kata. You can actually hear the waves from most of the rooms, which sounds cheesy until you’re falling asleep to it every night. The beach here has this nice wide stretch of sand, and honestly, the sunsets are ridiculous. I found myself just sitting on the little balcony with a Chang beer most evenings, watching the sky turn those impossible shades of orange and pink over the Andaman Sea.

What I really appreciated about this place is how it feels more like staying in someone’s well-kept apartment building rather than a typical hotel. The staff – there’s usually just two or three people working at any time – actually remember your name after the first day. They helped me sort out a motorbike rental (which you’ll definitely want for exploring), and the front desk guy, Somchai, gave me some solid recommendations for local spots that weren’t in my guidebook. The rooms themselves are pretty spacious for the price point, with a decent kitchenette that I actually used – there’s a small market about a five-minute walk inland where you can grab fresh fruit and basics. The Wi-Fi worked fine for my needs, though don’t expect blazing speeds if you’re trying to upload tons of photos. Air conditioning was solid, which matters more than you might think during the humid months. One small thing – the hot water takes a minute or two to kick in, but that’s pretty standard for this level of accommodation in Thailand. The pool area is small but clean, and it’s never crowded since there aren’t that many units. Perfect for a quick dip when the beach gets too hot or if you want to rinse off the salt water.
