Actually, I kind of liked watching the planes come in over the water – reminded me how easy it was to get here. There’s a decent local restaurant literally next door (the som tam is legit), and if you walk five minutes toward the main road, you hit this little cluster of shops and massage places that cater more to locals than tourists. For a three-star place, the pool area is surprisingly well-maintained, and they’ve got enough loungers that you’re not fighting for space even when it’s busier. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want – a solid, unpretentious base where you can actually relax without constantly being upsold or dealing with chaos.
