The beds are surprisingly decent too; I’ve stayed at supposedly fancier places where I woke up feeling like I’d been sleeping on concrete.

What really won me over was the staff’s approach to hospitality. There’s this genuine warmth that you can’t fake, you know? The front desk crew actually remembers your name after day one, and they’re quick with recommendations that aren’t just the typical tourist traps everyone gets steered toward. When I asked about good local food spots, they pointed me to this incredible little noodle place about ten minutes away that I never would’ve found otherwise – the kind of discovery that makes a trip memorable. The whole vibe feels more like staying with friends who happen to run a hotel rather than being just another room number. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the breakfast spread is pretty basic, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need. I actually found myself spending more time exploring the island because I wasn’t constantly worried about whether I was getting my money’s worth back at the hotel – it just felt like a solid, no-nonsense place to recharge between adventures.
