You know what really surprised me about HOMMORY RESIDENCE – West Chalong? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be flashy, but somehow gets all the important stuff right. I mean, when you’re dealing with a three-star property, you’re not expecting miracles, but this place actually delivers way more than you’d think for the price point.

The location in West Chalong is honestly pretty smart – you’re close enough to all the action around Chalong Bay that you can easily grab a longtail boat to the islands or hit up those seafood places along the pier, but far enough back that you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of scooters and tour groups at all hours. I stayed here during shoulder season and found the whole area surprisingly peaceful in the evenings, which was exactly what I needed after long days exploring Phuket’s crazier spots. The staff here actually seems to know what they’re doing too – check-in was smooth, and when I had questions about getting to some of the less touristy beaches on the east side of the island, they gave me directions that locals would give, not just the standard “take a taxi” response you get at bigger hotels.

What really won me over were the small touches that show someone’s paying attention. The rooms are clean and modern without being sterile – there’s this nice balance where it feels fresh but not like every other cookie-cutter hotel room you’ve stayed in across Southeast Asia. The air conditioning actually works properly (and quietly, thank god), the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and honestly, the beds are way more comfortable than I expected. I actually slept through the night, which doesn’t always happen when you’re adjusting to a new place. The bathroom setup is pretty well thought out too – decent water pressure and it doesn’t flood when you shower, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places mess that up. There’s also this little balcony situation that’s perfect for morning coffee if you’re an early riser like me. Sure, it’s not overlooking some dramatic cliff or pristine beach, but there’s something nice about just watching the neighborhood wake up slowly. I’d definitely come back here – it’s got that sweet spot of being comfortable and reliable without breaking the bank, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re more focused on exploring than lounging around your hotel all day.
