Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach, an IHG Hotel Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach, an IHG Hotel, I wasn’t expecting much beyond the usual chain hotel experience. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The location is what really gets you – it’s tucked right behind Surin Beach, which locals will tell you is one of the quieter stretches of sand compared to the chaos of Patong. You can literally walk out the back of the resort and have your toes in that impossibly soft white sand within two minutes.
What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Thai feel despite being part of a major hotel chain. The lobby opens up to this gorgeous pool area that somehow doesn’t feel overcrowded, even when the place is packed with families (and trust me, it gets busy during European winter months). The four-star rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be ultra-luxury, but everything works well and the staff actually seems to care. I mean, the front desk remembered my name after the second day, which is more than I can say for most places. The rooms are what you’d expect from Holiday Inn – clean, comfortable beds, decent shower pressure, and that reliable air conditioning that actually keeps up with Phuket’s humidity.
Here’s the thing though – the real magic happens when you start exploring the area around the resort. Surin Beach Road has some incredible local restaurants that most tourists never discover because they’re too busy hitting up the overpriced spots in Patong. There’s this little place called Kan Eang that’s maybe a five-minute walk away where you can get the most incredible tom yum soup for a fraction of what you’d pay at the resort restaurant. And honestly, while the hotel food is fine, you’d be crazy not to venture out. The resort does provide a shuttle to Patong if you want the full party scene (though fair warning – it can get pretty loud if you’re trying to sleep early), but I actually preferred the more laid-back vibe right there at Surin. The beach gets this beautiful golden light in the late afternoon, and there are usually just a few local families and the occasional yoga class happening on the sand. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax without feeling like you’re missing out on something more exciting happening elsewhere.

The hotel was located near the beach and main road where you could take taxis or bus easily.
The staff was extremely nice and courteous.
Breakfast has many options to chose from, better if you go early because later it’s goes crowded and the items take longer to be replenishMichael from South Africa (6/10)
The hotel has a lot of potential’ but seriously needs some renovations. Was very disappointed in the bar area at the pool’ ordering food takes over 1 half hours’ can’t do that to kids I saw clients telling them after 2 hours waiting for food to leave the food and left’ you can’t make kids wait 2 hours when hungry- you need serious management doing there job here’ not the staff fault serving us as the waitress and staff and the lady was very friendly’ it’s the kitchen that’s slow. Ever under staffed or just slow.
Breakfast also’ didn’t enjoy the food and quality that needs some serious attention here.
The hotel manager should be walking around seeing what’s going on making sure clients are happy.
The hotel cleannesses in rooms is disgusting they only use water to mop and sweep and no disinfectant liquids used I watched them the one day when they came to clean late’ that’s shocking toilets and floors should be cleaned with disinfectant liquid daily especially in Tailand’ more staff is needed here very under staffed and staff don’t have vacuum!
This hotel has potential to make 40% more turn over if these issues are fixed. Restaurant always empty “you should think about this” why?Bukharova from Singapore (8/10)

The beddings were good – blanket and mattress were both very comfortable. The room temperature was just right for sleeping, and the balcony was spacious with a good view. Some privacy ensured too.
